If I had a dollar for everytime I've seen someone post something like this... I wouldn't drive a Neon.
Just a tip: Do lots of research. 2GN.org is a very helpful message board and you'll find a lot of answers to your questions and you'll get several opinions from everyone. Just make sure you use that search button, too... It comes in handy. But before you start posting too many questions that may have been answered many-a-times before, just browse through (or search) to get an idea...
Welcome to 2GN, by the way... The
better .org.

so will a magnum head fit on my non magnum? or should I just buy a whole magnum motor?

head will work fine. if you can find a magnum motor for sale please do buy the whole thing!!! ill take the rest!
intake manifold, header, and head are the main parts of the mag that are worth swapping in, dont do a motor swap just for a complete mag motor. If you are willing to swap in a full engine do the srt4 motor hands down. welcome to 2gn

haven't decided if I want to do a 2.4 swap yet. but it is definitely a possibility seeing as how I do plan on tearing out the motor and basically spending a small fortune on the car.

please consider the srt swap, and if you do, consider staying away from any type of body kit too so as to make the ultimate sleeper. thats what i plan to do. oh and feel free to send me donations of your small fortune haha, im broke. good luck noob

you have alot of different options your can do
Roach is pumping 400 horses outta his 2.0 neon
You can go turbo - nitro - N/A
You said you wanted to go N/A already . . . Im just saying you have alot of options
If your going N/A . . . Its going to cost : ) Your right about that : )
An SRT swap might be the best bet for you . . . if your going N/A all the way -
I do love my magnum engine though : ) packs a nice punch . . .
IT ALL boils down to how much you wanna spend ? ? If you wanna go cheaper - then build up your non-mag engine - (unless you can find a cheap srt engine)

yeah a non mag can be turned into a beast, but it will prob only outperform a mag w/ upgraded intake mani, header, exhaust, cam, and if you really wanna run hard build in motor internally and get headwork/port work for max flow. I wonder if a na neon could push 200whp if there was a limitless budget. The little honda motors like the b16 have seen over 250 na whp, so i dont see why not. oh and a standalone is prob the only way to tune that high, and THAT is one of the neons biggest hp bottlenecks IMO.

True True
Im not sure what the most a N/A Non mag has been able to hit (maybe someone else here knows what the "record" is)
Like i said . . It all depends on how much you wanna spend . . . Personally - I would go turbo route - But thats just me . . .

as long as the turbo system is reliable, legal, and streetable, i agree totally. NA is great for those who want to build everything from the ground up. I bet a bored out high compression neon would scream with all the right mods. btw has anyone sleeved the srt/2.0 block prior to doing turbo to lower compression a bit? i know ive read about people doing that to keep high boost underwraps.

Roach did alot of work to his engine before he Turbo'ed it
I just bring him up since alot of people know of him
Im sure a NA neon would SCREAM if done right . . . budget is the killer there . . Most people just turbo the motor b/c its cheaper . . . or even worse - strap n2o to a stock motor . . . .
Well I take that back . . .n2o to a stock motor isnt always bad . . as long as its done right

I'm not really strapped down by budget so there's no problem there. Already have a n2o system. And no I'm not a noob, I'm just not familiar with what work the best with the neon. I'm used to modding the old turbo dodges.

says 'noob' under your name, so to me youre a noob. jk you still have any of those old dodges around lets hear about em!

If your not really held down by budget . . . then go for it man . . .
Im pretty sure youll be happy with the build up . . .
Do you have any decent shops in your area ? Its going to get to a point where your going to need vavle jobs done - Over boring - Possbily blue printing the engine. . . etc . . etc . . .
Im very curious as to how it would all turn out for ya . . . . .

Wasn't there a NA 2gen that dumped close to 10K into his motor and still couldnt get more then 200whp outa it?

^^ probably
who knows with N/A builds . . .
Doing N/A - You really have to be careful about who you let work on the engine and stuff . . .
You could give 10k to some schmoe who wont get more then 165 whp -
As where their are some people would would get you close to or past 200

when i finish school i should be able to build my motor up no prob, but as weve discussed, i gotta have the finances (which i actually might considering the kind of pay i should be getting). yeah havin work dont by others can cost way more than its worth.
