i have an ebay cai, and well honestly its a cai. there is very little difference in cai design except that iceman uses plastic instead of aluminum. they all do the job equally well. replace the filter sometime soon with a kn or be like me and wait a year to get one :D id definatelly get an ebay cai rather than spend the extra cash for a brand sticker.

I think many of the members here have an Ebay CAI--and I'm one of them. No complaints! Mine came with the K&N filter.

 I have an eBay CAI as well and just discovered cracked welds where to bracket mounts to the pipe (from engine vibration) and yes, the filters are junk... And as neonchic501 said in a post somewhere, the socket for your O2 sensor is way to big and you'll probably have to use electrical tape to hold it in, so it looks a little ghetto. And don't expect 7-15HP like it claims... You might get 1-2 if you're lucky. Overall, a lot cheaper than any other, but you should kinda' expect to get what you pay for in a situation like this. I'm pretty satisfied with mine, but the crack in the pipe kinda' sucks and I need to replace the filter soon... By the way, I've only had my eBay CAI for about 5 months.

my bracket did also just break the welds after one year. i also have mm inserts so vibrations are a bit more, plus my system goin. not to much more vibration but i think enough to hurt a bit. for that just get some jb weld and glue it back together. the jb weld is prolly stronger than the original weld anyway.

I have the AEM on mine, used to have the ebay, but Im much happier w/ the AEM personally.

why is that?
well to keep from starting another 'why the ebay owns other intakes' ....long story short, I had the ebay intake for about a year and a half. the metal piping was very thin, the couplers cracked after a year and i had to duck tape it in place until I could afford the AEM a couple months later. the hole for the sensor was huge, we had to use electircal tape to hold it in the pipe. on top of that, after a year of it getting so hot (the piping) the electrical tape was completely melted all over the intake. the filter sucked, just in general the way it was made was not very well at all IMO. The clamps wouldnt stay clamped and the intake litterally kept falling apart. every day Id have to pop the hood and tighten all the clamps up, only to do it again later that day or the next day at the latest. No straight bellows tube replacement either.

the AEM, on the other hand was a world of difference. Bolted right up. very well made couplers and clamps, the piping is a little thicker, the sensor fits right in that little hole for it perfectly and doesnt fall out. and best of all I dont have to worry about if its falling apart under my hood. sure it cost me like $200 (actually got it on ebay) but its a real AEM and it was well worth the money. I wish I wouldve spent it in the first place rather than going the cheaper route and getting a ebay special.

There are others that will arugue that they are just as good, but im giving you my honest opinion based on my experience. Its worth the extra money you spend to have peace of mind.

The iceman is nice too, I hear, but now its going to be hard to find since its discontinued now.

Nothing wrong with the Ebay cai. Just make sure you dont get a "magnum" style intake. It works, but doesnt fit just right. I have a OBX cai. Basically the same as the Ebay ones. I have had no problems with it yet. Been on for over a month now.

My CAI was the first thing I got when I got the car last October '04.

I never used the flimsy bracket that came with the CAI, instead, I used the abnormally large zipties to secure it in various places. Believe me, it ain't moving lol. It may look ghetto, but I'm not entering any shows lol. And because it doesn't move, the piping is still in good shape ;)

a broken weld doesnt affect the performance of the intake. 25 bucks for an intake and 5 bucks for jb weld to fix the bracket and ur still 130 bucks cheaper than aem and u wont see a bit of performance difference. the weld also doesnt break thru the pipe, its just the bracket. mine prolly broke because i twisted mine a good deal.

But what that cheap ebay CAI doesnt give you is a C.A.R.B number, and in some states that could prove fatal if your ever pulled over, and asked kindly to pop your hood.

proved fatal  what the hell kinda cops are u dealing with.

this is true, but i think if u stay away from like california u should be good. all i have to worry about here is emissions which should be gone soon...hopefully.

Last i heard several states along the west and east coast are looking to adopt C.A.R.B standards. I'll try to attempt to dig up the article later tonight if i can. I dont recall what year they were looking to do it by, either 08, 11 or 15. Thats quite a distance away, but still, times are starting to change.

I worked all through college in order to pay for it. I'm sorry if i don't have sympathy becuase he can't afford to by stuff for his car. If schools so important, then its best to try focusing on that is all.
