These are the storys that I love. I might as wel throw mine in, it was a warm autum day me and my friend Lee were driving down the road he was behind me goin down a sideroad to get on the freeway. All of a sudden a cop comes out of no where pulls him over and whips out a decibel meter and gives him a ticket of 190$ dollars. Which was not unrealistic his car is damn loud.

I have the srt rear section with a resonator on my mid pipe and its loud. but ive never had a problem with law enforcement. the only time i get nervous is when there are cops out directing traffic or something. i kinda just creap on by them, they know what im doing i think, but they dont seem to car. but its gotta come off before my inspection.

He told me that they gave him paperwork showing that he was within the limits, just in case he ever got pulled over. He is running an Evo exhaust on a 99 Civic.
In CA if you get an exhaust ticket, you can set up a free appointment at select emmions testing places to have the ticket "verified"

This is a law I had to research for my senior thesis, good law.

My siren for the fire department is rated at 120 dB @ ~10ft and there is NO WAY an exhaust system would come close to the volume of a siren on an emergency vehicle.
I do agree with you on the SRT exhaust part, I had on on my Neon, no way in hell.
But your siren comparison is wrong. db is exponential, I hope you guys know what that means because I can't spell it right.
