New Short Block - Question
New Short Block - Question
My Car goes in on Monday to get a new Short block under warranty(Cold start piston slap) and I am wondering if anyone has had this done and had a UDP installed. If so did they (the Dealer) take the UDP off the old block and put it on the new one?

Depending on how much of an ass they want to be they could but if they do, ask for proof thats what the cause is.
They should take it off and give it to you, they may ask you to take it off though since they aren't getting paid to install the pulley or remove it. You own it though so you have the right to take it just like if you buy a replacement radio and have them install it... you can ask for the old one back since it is still yours b/c you bought a new one.
If the shortblock doesn't come with the stock one installed already they'll need to install one anyway so just ask them if they could put the UDP back on. They may say no just to make sure the engine runs okay as it is without any modifications. You'll just have to ask them to see what they say but you are entitled to the pulley if they dont' use it.

I had the dealer install the UDP when I got it so I am pretty sure I will have a good time if they say that was the cause.
I have already gone a few rounds with them about the CAI and they know I will not be pushed around. But I am almost tempted to say "the UDP could not have casued this could it?" just to see what new BS they come up with. They tried to blame "mist" coming into the CAI for the cold piston slap...
Now that the day is so close I am worried a little... This engine while loud at start up has been good to me for the 30,000km on it.
