what wire do i tap into on my o2 sensor? ive got 2 white wires 1 gray wire and 1 black wire.

what year is your car....u might need to get another o2 sensor installed

If your Neon is 03 and up, you'll need a different sensor. 02 - 00 i believe you can tap into your existing 02 sensor, but I'm not really sure about the details.

I just installed an autometer A/F narrow band gauge in my 05. IMO, it was a waste of money. The reading just bounces all over the place. If you really want a good read-out, go with a wide band.

i have an 00, i just need to know what wire to tap into

wiring harness. Black wire with a green tracer.

Narrowband won't do you much good anyway unless you like light shows. All it'll do is fly back and forth, back and forth then when you stop on the gas it'll jump up to rich for a bit then slowly fall back. Then when yo let off the gas it'll go Lean... give it a little more gas and go back to crusing and it's back and forth, back and forth. Really gets annoying at night when the gauge is bright.

I'm just telling him its not worth it at all on an 03+ because you have to spend quite a bit to get your narrowband to work, so you might as well get a wideband if you want an a/f guage on an 03+

i understnad what it does, my buddy has one in his Cavi. what type of o2 sensor do i need to use? i have one from my 00 es layin around, would that work?

Yeah that'll work, I forget exactly but since the o2 sensor is heated you may need to run power to it so it gets a good reading.

any info on how to do it exactly, or do you knwo where i can find out?

here is the end all to all questions of a/f gauge with 03+ neons or something like that....

03+ neons need an aditional o2 sensor welded into the exhaust. reason for this is because on 03+ they started to use o2 sensors that would read from like 2-3 or 1-2 volts vs. the 0-1 or 0-2 volts or somethin like that. i cant remember the exact voltage the o2 sensors read along. anyways...the narrow band from autometer and most other companies is designed to read on a 0-1 volt…which is why even if you were to hook the a/f to the right wire on your o2 sensor it would always be pegged in rich. the lowest volt on the o2 sensor signal is basically the highest volt for the gauge.. makes sense? Anyways…best solution for this is to go to ebay and buy an o2 bung for like 10 dollars. They usually come in a pack of 2. you can also go somewhere local that sells them and pick a set up. Next go to your local muffler shop or somewhere and have them weld in the bung onto your exhaust. next go to your local autozone or watever and pick up a bosch single wire o2 sensor...here is the part number for it.....Bosch Single-Wire Universal Oxygen Sensor (part # 11027). Cost like 20 dollars…next screw that o2 sensor into your new bung. there will be one wire coming out of it...connect that wire to your signal wire on the a/f gauge. connect remaining power wires for gauge up and enjoi it takes a little for the o2 sensor to heat up and start working but when it does it reads pretty accurate. not 100% but pretty damn accurate for narrow band. especially at full throttle. hope this helped…feel free to correct if im wrong. This is how I have mine set up till I get up and buy a wideband.

Reflect- I was reading the instructions that came with my Mopar A/F gauge (Autometer) and it says it's for 0-1V, and when I spoke with BRR and someone else, the reading off the 02 in our cars is also 0-1V.

I then went to my local Chrysler dealer and spoke to the one tech that I actually trust and he said he hooked one up, that it just bounced around at idle, and basically went rich at WOT, but that it worked ok...for a narrowband.

I guess this means I have to hook mine up and check it out for us, I'll report back

yeh the pre 03 neons had the 0-1 volt which is same as the autometer gauge. which is why it works wth those. on 03+ is when they used a higher voltage o2 sensor so it doesnt work and you gotta add the additional o2 sensor.

I specifically remember reading my instructions that came with it, and what BRR toild me was the same, also, what the service manual says matched, I guess we will find out when I hook it up (or try for that matter)

i was talking to a buddy of mine and he says that it cant work with a single wire o2 sensor... that it cant read without power to the wire, im just relaying what ive heard, im not sure, i just wanna ask befoer i buy anythign....

I think refect hit the nail right on the head. For a 03+ Neon, you need a seperate 02 sensor that will output 0-1V. The bosch single wire is exactly what I'm using with my Autometer A/F gauge.

Well your buddy is very wrong.

Single wire 02 sensors have been around for ages. The 4 wire sensors have a heater in them which allows the 02 sensor to reach operational temperature much faster than just being heated from the exhaust gas. It has nothing to do with powering the wire.

Heres a photo of the bosch 02 sensor installed in my down pipe. Good luck with the gauge install.
