Hi,

I brought a 2001 R/T just after xmas, its all stock apart from ive just put a K&N Typhoon CAI on it but now im not sure what to do next.

I mean should I go down the performance route or cosmetic? New alloys, tinted windows, lowered etc.. or throttle body, Nitrous, turbo....

I just dont know which one to go for next if any

Do you have pics posted of your car anywhere, yet?

I'd say lower it and do some more simple performance mods.

PERFORMANCE!

Re-do the suspension then worry about Horsepower. Cause Power means nothing without the ability to control it.

Struts/Springs (or coilovers), Sway bars, Strut bars, suspension bushings, motor mounts, etc etc

you should sell me your chrystler grill!!!! jk
I would start with a cai and muffler then go for the looks, rims tint ect. It would give you time to dedcide if you wanted turbo, N/A, or nitrous. jmo though

Id pretty much agree with these guys, id say do exhaust next, followed by tires (and wheels if you want to) and/or a full suspension system. then shoot for a few cosmetic mods. good luck

Oh shit that's a nice setup.

IMO, performance > cosmetic any day. Hell, you should see Graphite03's car.

Just browse the Engine Mods section of the site and you'll find things here and there to do that won't break the bank. I'm talking stuff like an UDP, lowering setup, bigger/better sway bars... Handling is a nice thing to mod that will also keep you safe when you decide to add more HP. Also some slightly bigger wheels with some good tires, too. Like I said, though, just run through the site here and check out things that others are doing to get yourself some ideas.

The first performance mod you should invest in would be new performance tires something in the 205/45 R16.....next I would start hooking up the suspension......some nice coilovers or a really good spring and strut combo after that upgrade those strut bars and sell the ones that came on your car to someone on this board. That should give you a little spending money back to either get some motor mount inserts or get some dogbone motor mounts. Once you are done with that next on my list would be a short shifter......Also I forgot to mention when you have your suspension pulled apart you should put in new poly bushings. Anyways I wouldnt worry to much about the performance aspects of the engine untill you get done with all that. Then I would buy a differ CAI maybe and Injen or AEM (you could sell the K&N to someone on here for about half the money for a new CAI)and a Mpx 60mm Throttle Body and a Thermal axle back exhaust.

lower it.... thats both a performance and a cosmetic mod at the same time. lowering it will improve the handling while at the same time look 10 times better.

^ thats a good point for sure. still on my to do list when i win the lotto!

just do basic I/H/E and suspension and youll be good to go for awhile. maybe a UDP if thats something u wanna do too. personally, i like to mix it up and do performance AND style back and forth so my car stays consistant. I like to have a car thats both nice to look at AND fun to drive! style is everything, so find yours and go with it.

i lowered my car the first two weeks i had it. if you really think about it... the whole i/h/e, like you have said in previous post, are pretty good from the factory. that is why it wasn't a major priority on my to do list.

then wait till you lower it... you'll fall in love with it in a whole different way. :D and once you get some wheels... specially if its the very first time you have a car with aftermarket rims... man! thats a whole different story then.

To be honest i like the stock rims. I like the whole overall stock look anyway. I definatly want to lower it though as it does sit particually high.

Its also important for me not to lower the mpg to drastically as i am on a limited budget and do alot of miles.

I would happily trade for the right grill, cant get alot like that here in the UK

^dbl, the stock parts are ok from the factory, but some people want better sound/more power/better looks so they go for simple bolt ons like that and they dont have to spend too much cash. I think the rt looks sick out of the box so theres not much use in doing anything on the outside. i still agree that lowering is a great idea early in the game, i wish i would have done it sooner cuz now i cant afford it!

oh and look into a STS too ross, they make the car feel great!

Forgive me, but what is a STS?

^ Short Throw Shifter, it reduces the time and improves the feel of shifting.

STS = Short Throw Shifter ;-)

I suggest Maddog :D

How hard am I to quote my own post? :naka:

Anyways......I promise this is the plan of champions. I believe it will net you the best results and you will probably feel overly joyed on how your car feels and runs.......

I also forgot to mention that upgrading your wires to 8.5mm and getting some Iridium plugs will do good as well.

And to make you cars shifting experience more perfomance oriented I would suggest booger shifter bushings complemented by a Maddog, Mopar, or Mopure STS

Can anyone recomend anything that wont break the bank, but is actually worth getting?
Ive looked on ebay but i dont really know whats good or bad so any help would be great.

You can get the ride adjustable only for about 650.00

By the way the car owned by Jason Day is Diablo0

Dont be worried and to anyone who wants to know.....SRT4 suspension will work as a direct fit to any Neon with no hassle of any kind.

There are other routes you can take but these are some of the best that I know of.....There are more but check this stuff out first

H&R or Progress or SRT-4 or Eibach Springs w/ Koni adjustables or Tokico Adjustables or ACR Adjustables

Its about $1000 to put it together. Your driving experience will improve 100 fold. Getting the car lower changes teh dynamics of the whole vehicle. You WILL like your car much more.

KW / MOPAR coilovers are about $1200 - 15000 and will be the last suspension you will ever buy cuz you will be SO happy.

I personally plan to use the eibach pro kit and tokico HP struts (as soon as i can afford them), and when the time comes and OB is wealthy, im gonna do TEIN coilovers, either SS or maybe even the one above that (flex i think) if theyre available, so i can run the EDFC adjustability system.

everyone seems to be pointing you in the right directions be sure to let us know what u decide to do.

oh and id suggest the Mopure STS and Booger shift bushings myself, but ive also heard good things about the Maddog sts line as well. its a fairly simple and fairly inexpensive mod thats well worth it. much like suspension, its something you'll appreciate everytime you drive the car.

Also When lowering your car sometimes you may have clearence issues with tire to springperch rub that is why I have 45 series tires but I also have full coilovers with no spring perch but on a side note if you buy srtuts for the srt the spring perch sits higher so you wont have clearence issues but the put it simply coilover suspension is the absolute and you will never need anything else unless replacing a blown strut or upgrading spring rates when it comes to this particular aspect of your suspension

^^And on that note, let us know what you decide and I am SURE someone on this org has done it and can inform you of all the in's and out's of your potential upgrade.. :D :D
