Question for you... Did you notice a drop in fuel mileage due to the installation of your K and N intake? I just put mine in and I can tell my mileage is down over just two days. I imagine the car is still in the "learning" process, but how much of a loss should I expect if any?

That is what I thought.... Perhaps it is my ignition system.... I just dropped in new Autolite Plugs gapped at about .038 and changed the oil...

get some Magnecore or MSD plugwires, should help clear rough idle

No, but the 8.5mm wires will give a more stable electrical current thru the wires. My stock wires were fine, but i replaced them with Magnecores, and my car idles so smooth you cant tell its on cept for the exhaust and intake.

That would be awesome. What plugs do you run and gap? Running stock coil?

NGK V-Powers Gapped at .035

Well the car is going to the dealer tomorrow so I will have them check on the idle. It was going in for leaky spark plug tubes....

your wires should be good for 60000. mine were shot after 35000. i replaced them with normal wires, no name wires my dad got for $30 off the internet. car idles great. remember you can use wires from any sohc 2.0, 95 to 05.

Maybe the dealer will replace them, otherwise I will order up some wires tomorrow night!

they will more than likely charge you because they are maintenance items. but i think someone here did say the dealer replaced them under warrenty one time.

Id just get some 8.5mm wires. i got my magnecores from a guy here for $40 shipped. They was blue and fit my underhood theme well.

Okey dokey. Think the Autolites at .038 are causing me troubles?

Doubt it someone else on here uses Autolites. He ahsnt had any probs i dont think. IT could be the small leak you have in the tube, or it could be you could use some new plug wires.

the stock plug gap's .033-.038 so you're at the high end of the spectrum if autolites are the same.

Alright, if the dealer doesn't change it, I will drop to .035 and split the difference.

as long as its within a few thousands im sure its fine. a plug doesnt hold its gap for the entire time its in the engine. iirc ive pulled out plugs that were about .042

.038 is better than .045 so you are already in the plus

True that, maybe the car is relearning the proper gap! Doesn't that take like 100 miles or so...

relearning the proper gap. how would the computer even know what the gap is. all the spark wants to do is get to the other side and i dont believe the computer has anyway to know how far it is to the other side.

Not saying that, poor wording on my part.... Basically when a car learns a new mod, well a gap is going to change the combustion of the gasoline and therefore 02 readings. I bet it takes a few miles for the car to average out to the new change.

Alrighty... Dealer called and said the replaced the tubes and the gasket and the idle is better because of that.... Aka no more oil in the cylinders. I will post another update tonight once I go pick it up!

I would agree! I did not realize that the oil would be leaking in as well... I am probably going to pick up a set of wires anway... eBay here I come!
