Hi im new to this board but not the scene...im over from the 'other' org where i got alot of crap before......I have a 2003 R/t and have owned a 1997 Sohc coupe...Im looking for more power but i dont wanna use nitrous and cant afford a turbo right now. I know about the whole 'ngc' thing and what not it doesnt discourage me at all from modding.....My mods currently are a K&N CAI, and a AFX UDP. Im looking for your guys opinion....should i get a LT header? Or a TB? And another thing i would like to know is IF you have the mods and what kind are they.....thanks

BTW pics of my car and stuff here......

Welcome to the site. Id say expand more on the exhaust side of things before getting the TB, but thats just my opinion.

Im planning on getting the TB with a intake manti at the same time. Right now i have the dodge dual exhaust kit, aem cai, and dodge srt 4 sts, and some other stuff. Im pretty much ordering a mod or two every two weeks now that summers started.

Get a 1gn valve cover. I'm gonna bead blast mine this weekend and get it all cleaned up. Performance? Well, no, but you won't have oil all over your intake.

The only thing I can tell you is this.....
http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=2513

Use that as a guide, as for the NGC situation is concerned believe it or not......
There is alot of theories about NGC and there are alot of pioneers experimenting with it. All I can tell you for now is use the link above and then go from there
Welcome to 2GN!

You can get a TB with an 03 you just have to go to the dealership to get your pcm upgraded. I have an 03 SXT and I was getting the CEL (0068) and the pcm upgrade fixes it.

WRONG!!

Been there done that.

The 03 R/T use a different PCM and even after the updates the Bigger throttle bodies don't work. MAP clamps work on some 03 R/Ts but not all.. they only way to truely get around it is to run a Aftermarket EMS like Megasquirt

from what I have seen...
Aftermarket polished aluminum 6 spoke wheels
Paint, wight w/ blue stripes....
Tinted windows....
The car looks clean....

Well lorenzo has a post somewhere on here explaining that was causing the problem on R/T's..that is where I figured out to go do it and it fixed my problem even on my SXT.

I was the one that told him about that. :) I Even e-mailed him back when my experiment didnt work.
MoxHairR/T on 3/21/06 wrote:I've heard that you've heard just about every way of trying to fix the problems with the 60mm and the 03 R/Ts.
What about the most recent "Engine Performance" Update for the PCM. update number 18-024-05.
I recently had this update done because of a Member of the 2gn.org board mentioned it in a topic about the 60mm TB. So since I was having trouble with my TB and all but given up on it... I decided what the heck.

So I put my throttle body back together and it seems to be working fine with no LIMP MODE. Granted it's only been about 15miles.... I'm just going off before I couldnt go more than 6miles with out the CEL coming on and the car basiclly shutting down. Please get back to me if you've heard about this before.. This may be a possible fix. I'm going to drive further tomorrow and see what happens.

Lorenzo on 3/21/06 wrote:I pretty much given up and figured it HAS to be the computer causing the
issue. The update might be a fix for it but only time will tell please keep
me informed on what happens. I would like to know if it works. I said
after everyone tried everything possible that it has to be with the computer
and the programming and the shitty part is there was no way to even try a
aftermarket computer since no one made them at the time and I figured dodge
wasn't going to do anything but I guess they made a fix not sure what the
fix was actually for but heck it's worth knowing if it does work and fix the
problem. I had alot of people sell the TB's after having these problems
with it a good bit of turbo cars as well having nothing but problems only on
the 03 RT's which is why I figured it had to be a PCM problem only since it
worked on the other years fine. Keep in touch....

Has that been the case for just you or everyone with an R/T? I must have missed that cause I thought it was found to be the solution.

I was the one that told Lorenzo about it and I believe I might be the only one to try :)
Lorenzo on Neons.org wrote:There is a FIX for the 03 RT engine light code. Mopar has a update for their PCM's which will fix this problem. Someone from 2gn board e-mailed me about it
Got that quote from here = http://forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?t ... ht=lorenzo

When I e-mailed him about it not working he didnt say much, probably used to the issues with Upset 03 R/T owners

He said Never.. but it did come back.. That Post was on Mar 30th. And at the time my car hadnt gone into Limp Mode. On April 3rd I E-mailed him with the bad news.

That sucks..I hated when I had to take mine off because of the poor throttle response from the stock TB. But I suppose we should get this thread back on topic heh.

you are correct. they changed something between model years. My car was manufactured in June of 03 so it was probably one of the last ones off the line.
