grinding? -edit

i was looking at my engine today and i was lookin at my a/c compressor and i see rust on the belt housing then i see grind marks on the front firewall directly in front of the a/c belt housing. heres a pic. what is causing this?

If I was to guess its the engine mounts being bad. It letting the motor shift and hit the wall

thats what i was thinking but i check the mounts and they seem fine. car only has 46,9XX.

Get someone to put the car in drive and reverse and give it some gas while you watch how much the engine actually moves (stand beside the car so you don't get run over in case it moves). Maybe your mounts look ok but are actually worn out.

i remembered the dodge dealer tech guy sayin that the lower mount was bad. i had someone look into it and say it was fine. i doidnt know who to believe but i kinda figure the lower mount would be bad and done this.

^^ Go over to http://www.srtforums.com. People are always selling upper and lower motor mounts for almost nothing. Then get some prothane MM inserts and you'll be set :wink:

alright, update! i put in my lower mount and i had someone to put it in drive and reverse...the engine shifts a little. the top mount is shot. hopefully this one i put in will work.
