I picked these rear disk brake assembly's up from someone on the other org a while ago and they are pretty rusty. I was wondering if there's anyway to clean them up. I plan on painting the calipers red before I put them on. You can find pictures here: http://thewarforge.com/gallery/v/OtherStuff/miscstuff/

Will I have to worry about the integrity of the metal at all or will the rust just come off and everything will be good again?

Unless it is all the way through, rust is no big deal - it will scrape right off when you use a wire brush and brake cleaner - best thing for it. Have fun!

The fastest way to clean them is to use a sandblaster or mediablaster. If you have no access to either, then hit up a wire wheel for fast cleaning. You want as much rust gone as possible before cleaning and paint....
Once cleaned and read for paint, get some High temp paint for everything but the calipers. For the calipers get your typical caliper paint to do them

You didnt happen to buy them from a guy named Canadneon, did you? If you did, they will clean up well as they came from a California car. The set from a 95 neon I just put on my car actually looked worse than those when I got them and I spent about 2 hours with a lot of degreaser, a wire brush, sandpaper, and varrious tools to take every part apart clean and paint them.

Pics of how mine turned out here-->

*Note, I put new rotors on, as well as pads and E-brake shoes.

no i bought them from pf2neon I think he lives in Ohio. I like how those turned out and it makes me happier because when I got them (I've had them sitting around for months waiting till I felt like doing anything with them) I was thinking I was just going to be stuck with them like that. I think I might bring them home with me because I should be able to use better tools there since I would have to do it all by hand here.

Check around your town, my dad use to own a shop that actually stripped paint and rust from metal parts (including cars). Media blaster is by far the best bet, and there is also a chemical dip (they use phosphoric acid, same stuff in Coca-Cola and crystal meth).

Either way, it won't cost much for something so small. But your best bet is still a wire brush and brake cleaner - or maybe coke?

I was in town today so I stopped at autozone and picked up some crc brake cleaner and some steel wool..I'll see if that along with some sandpaper can do anything. I figure if mopar00neon can get results like that with what I've got then that should be good enough for me.
