rear windows leaking.. ERR Taillights Leaking

Post by MoxHair » Tue Jun 20, 2006 11:15 am

For the past week or so I've been getting pools of water on the rear floor. Until last night I had no Idea where this water was coming from. So after an hour looking with a flashlight last night around midnight I see dried trails of water coming from the tops of the rear windows. The Windows are up so thats not the issue.

Has Anybody else heard of this problem before and would the window seals be covered under the warranty. (My car only has 26000miles on it)

EDIT: Trunk full of water, has to be the taillights

my rear windows have been known to roll themselves down slightly over time, allowing a bit of water to pass in when i wash the car (ive learned to check them before doing so by now!). its a neon think IMO, but if you have POOLS of water, then maybe your seals/weather stripping is shot? not sure mang good luck.

My dad's side molding on his caravan was covered and replaced when it peeled up at one corner a bit, so I'm sure the window seals are covered.

Never heard of it on a 2gn though, just my old 1gn. Those windows were so terribley designed.

The Passanger side rear was a pool last night. I could make it splash. It Really pissed me off. Cause the first time I noticed it the window had rolled it self down a little bit and I thought that had fixed it. Nope Still happening. Is there any way to check it? I really dont have the time to take the car to the dealership and sit there for hours.

I also have this issue : http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=9956

Could also be the seals for the tail lights....if those dry rot....the water leaks into the trunk then flows to the back seat and floor. Pull out your spare tire if there is any condensation and/or water in the spare tire well then that is definitely the problem.

I never had that problem w/ the stock 03 or the 03+ tuner tails i had. although i should probably get new gaskets for my tuner tails when i get a new car.

Mines only got 26000 miles on it and the whole rear end of the car was rebuilt last September because of a tireshop ramming a F-150 into it. So they probably didnt replace the gaskets when the fixed it, and I never noticed because we just started the raining season.

Do you have aftermarket tail lamps, cause if you do thats the problem. I had the same problem with mine and put some silicone sealant where it was leaking, solved the problem. I went back to my stock tail lamps and they are fine.

Everything in the rear was destroyed. Both fenders were creased, trunklid, spoiler, bumper, sparetire well, both taillights were cracked, etc etc. I didnt think it was that bad, but when they started taking it apart the damage total kept going up and up and up. Sat on the frame stretcher thing for a few days because of the angle they hit it at.

Mine leaked in my almond 02. The one on the passenger side rear. I didnt have it long enough to get it fixed. I just discovered it about 2 weeks before it was totaled.

Went to the dealership today. Took them 6 hours to change the gaskets and add some RTV. They also ordered me a new 6 disc changer and it'll be there in a couple days. I also ordered a Mopar Rear Tension Strut Kit.

Hopefully this solves my leaking water issue. I dunno when I'll put my Rear Seat back in.. I kinda like how light the car feels with out anything in the back. ;)
