Yeah, you need to learn how to launch the car. You should be able to get a 2.2 60' if you don't screw the pooch on the launch. The clutch and gas aren't on/off switches, learn to modulate them better, and get better tires.
So many neons so little time.

Exactly, but I don't see why a good driver can't get a 2.0-2.1...INVUJerry wrote:Yeah, you need to learn how to launch the car. That's a crazy high 60ft.. I think I could out 60 that in a school bus.7654800neon wrote:2.6045 was my 60 foot also all this was untuned with shity unmatched tires
99MPH trap should be good for a 13.9-14.0...
Best I ever got on street tires in my N/A car was 2.2, and the best my SRT ever got was 2.15 on Sumitomo HTR Z rated tires, and that was very hard lol. I launched at 2K and rolled into the throttle in first.
Honestly if you plan on just drag racing, I'd invest in a set of 15x7 wheels with slicks, probably 24.5x8x15 or 24.5x8.5x15. You can launch off a two step and get great results.

If he builds boost off of the 2-step and is on slicks, his mph will go up along with going faster. Slicks is a whole another ball game compared to street tires.

Ewww I hate HTR's.INVUJerry wrote:Best I ever got on street tires in my N/A car was 2.2, and the best my SRT ever got was 2.15 on Sumitomo HTR Z rated tires, and that was very hard lol. I launched at 2K and rolled into the throttle in first.
I've seen some SRT's do 2.0's, but they also had a lot of practice.
Usually I see them running high 14's with 2.5 60's like a bunch of retards.JeffM wrote:Ewww I hate HTR's.INVUJerry wrote:Best I ever got on street tires in my N/A car was 2.2, and the best my SRT ever got was 2.15 on Sumitomo HTR Z rated tires, and that was very hard lol. I prefer finding the guys that wreck them.JeffM wrote:...That's why you find the ones who aren't.chipdogg wrote:Usually I see them running high 14's with 2.5 60's like a bunch of retards.
There was an older guy a few years ago that'd run mid-high 13's on street tires without much done to it but he passed away 2 years ago. Figures, I find an SRT-4 owner that's not a d-bag and he passes away.
I do like beating them though.

7654800neon - trying to launch a turbo car can be no fun. I used to run 12.50's at 116 mph in my old SRT one run, and mid 13's the next. It was either come out of the hole like a limp dick, or spin the crap out of the tires 90% of the time (and that was on drag radials). Looking back, I would agree with INVUjerry regarding the 2-step and slicks. It is the only way I would try to race a big turbo car again to avoid torturing myself with inconsistency.
chipdogg - You actually found one! I owned one for 7 years, but no longer want to be in that "category" myself any more....so much that I would not even do a SRT engine swap either and I usually cringe when somebody suggests it......in a sick sort of way, I can't wait to get back to GLD or Byron with my non SRT motor and claim my first SRT.

It's called throttle control.7654800neon wrote:like i said i was spining the whole time so i dont see how im going to get a quicker 60 foot untill i get better tires
I could take off out the hole on street tires in my old 500 hp Cobra and not spin..... like someone said before, release clutch does not = MASH gas all the way down.
I'm sure being FWD and turbo...you will spin...but it was manageable in my SRT-4 which had the crappy Sumitomo HTR tires.
Learn to drive it as is...then throw more parts at it.
This is coming from someone who has been down the track hundreds of times.
August 18-19 I'll be there for Import Wars (GLD). Gotta get mine back together first though. Not too much left.gearbanger4 wrote:chipdogg - You actually found one! Or just roll into the gas, don't mash it. I launched my SRT at 2000 RPM's, and took off like I was leaving a light. Went from 1/4 throttle and was almost at full throttle when I had to shift. I didn't even go WOT in 1st.
If he has a boosted 2.0 I don't think a boost box would work well for him. I'm sure his wastegate pressure is 7 or 13 psi. Gonna have to learn to drive.

There you go, ladies and gentlemen. Don't be a tard with the gas.
Oh, no burnout on street tires!
What tires were you running anyway?
