My 6th run from last weekend

Have some questions about AutoX or Rally racing, like what types of tires are good or where to start for suspension, ect... ask them here.

My 6th run from last weekend

Post by GroceryGetter » Fri Sep 28, 2012 5:54 pm

Information:
SCCA region #44
September 23 2012
Event #7
Burton Coliseum, Lake Charles Louisiana

Car: 2004 Dodge Neon SXT 5 speed
Class STC
Modifications: Prothane race torque strut bushings, 1gn rear sway bar, 2" Thrush turbo muffler, cotton filament air filter, cross drilled and slotted front rotors.
Front tires: Left, 205/50/15 Kumho Ectsa ASX Right, 205/50/15 General UHP
Rear tires: Nexxen CP640 195/55/15
I have a tire and wheel shop who sponsors me, giving me discounts on his used tire inventory ( thus the reason for the mismatched tires) and on new tires for the car. This has allowed me to test out different tires to find the ones I like. The four I am running now are on my list to avoid for the track. Decent street rubber but not up to the demands of the track.

I will create a better log of my year in autox, but this is a start.

Looks like fun. I cringed at 0:47; looked like you were headed right for that cone.

That was a pretty tight corner and my tires were hot already so it was closer than it should have been. At the end of the run I went to brake hard to drop speed as quick as I could and see if the tires were maintaining grip.....but you can hear them lock up.

Actually they are not so bad. I will run them again next month at the next autox and wear them out. I will need decent rubber for the November race because I will be running SMF as well as Turbo.

the koni manual should give you a good idea on how to tune 2way adjustable shocks. basically just like you're saying firm enough not to skip around, then leave compression alone and move to rebound... basically you wont know where to put your adjustments until drive and zero in on your ideal setup. keep a book you have made a lot of changes.
