for all mopar engines....
http://www.allpar.com/mopar.html
in the 2nd gen s/s
3.0 V6 Mitus was in the 2 doors
2.7 V6 chrysler was in the 4 doors
2.5 I4 chrysler was offered in the 4 doors as base model engine
i belive all 2003+ 2.4 I4's had a common block, internals and heads are different tho.. same for pre ngc i think

As for mitsu is consirned....
2.5 and 3.0's are the mitsu motors
2.0/2.4/2.7 are DCx
As for the 2.4 block between the SRT and NON, the difference is where the coolant and oil passages are....Technically there the same block...
I heard that info is available over on SRT forums....
Wich means you can take a 2.4 block, stuff it with SRT internals and get a SRT short block except for where the coolant and oil passages are....

This is what I'm in the process of doing right now. People have even ran them turbo'd with the stock oil pump without problems. I'll be putting in a better one for insurance. Upgrade the oil pump, take out the balance shafts and plug the oil feed for that assembly, and drill/tap/machine an oil drainback passage in the back of the block for the turbo, and you have pretty close to a 2.4T block. I'm using a 99 Stratus block for mine.

As mentioned they are similar less a few differances, one important one (imo) being oil squirting the pistons (or rods not sure which).
Other than that its perfect to use the srt- internals on and have basically an srt-4 motor
