I was wondering what would be a good cheap starting HP upgrade for my 2003 dodge sx 2.0. anything under $200 would be great. thanks in advance.
P.S. I was thinking a cold air intake but I'm not sure about the instilation? I'm semi coherent when it comes to cars. mostly just afraid that I will break something

stickers....lots of them....with $200 you can buy like 100 stickers....each giving u 9.2HP a piece. APC stickers add 9.7 a piece though.

the intake stuff is very easy and straight foward, its something most beginners could do with proper hand tools.
if you ask any member on here, most will say CAI, exhaust, and underdrive pulley. but, if you havent already realized, our neons arent the quikest things around, and they take money to make 'quick'.
if i were you, i would take the money you had to build horsepower and apply it to the suspension and handling dept. replacing the stock tires with wider ones (205 45 R16's), used srt sway bars, and possibly motor mount inserts (helps get rid of wheelhop).
thats just my .02

well your $.02 are a lot better than the sticker idea. I thought it was only 1.2 per sticker. thanks again! I kinda want the HP cause i'm young and stupid but I'm not going to race it. I just want some extra jump when I use my right foot

My car has quite a bit more pep than it did stock, but my mods are pretty extensive as far as bolt ons go, so you'd be lookin at a lot more than 200 bucks. Id agree with the dude above and say CAI, exhaust, and definatly some suspension goodies. Top notch tires will improve the cars accelleration significantly believe it or not. Not to mention the obvious traction/handling gains for th corners.

if you go with a cai a fender well one is the best and only takes with removal of the stock resonator box about 1hr. on my dads i put in a high flow filter and removed the resonator box and replaced it with a tube that made a noticable difference on his car along with my old 1gn dohc muffler total cost was $50 which still leaves money to play with in your case. good luck

They all do the same thing. Replace the filter element off the ebay intake with a K&N, make sure all your couplings and grommets are with it, and you should be okay. Alot of people opt for the Ebay intakes because we are frugal Neon owners: $40>$200.
