Iceman Painting
Iceman Painting
I have a red iceman that is slowly looking orange. I want to paint it black. Has anyone done this? Only thing im afraid of is the paint flaking off or it looking like shit after a year.

Re: Iceman Painting
Probably just put a coat of primer on first. I painted all my fluid covers red and I primered them first. They still look new.SlvrACR wrote:I have a red iceman that is slowly looking orange. LIGHTLY sand it a bit
clean again
Primer
Paint
Clear coat if your doing metallic and wanna make it look nice and shiny

Yeah I don't know about sanding it. It's not smooth plastic, it's sort of textured, so you'd probably have to sand the living hell out of it to get it to look better than just leaving it as is.

I just painted mine last week. I bought a used Blue one. I first cleaned it real well. I tape the rubber grommets. I initially sprayed it with Rustoleum Flat Black (I didn't want glossy). I didn't like the looks of the Flat, so I just treated this as a primer. Next, I bought a can of Rustoleum Satin Black. I love the looks of this. Not too shiny, not too flat. I can't speak to it's longevity -- as I just did it. The Rustoleum is safe for temps below 200 degrees -- which should be way more than enough for the Iceman.
Traded 05 SXT mtx, for new 07 Fusion SE I4 5A.
