A quick dumb 20+ hp question on e-bay

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

if anything, you would want to trick your computer into think the air is warmer not colder.

warm air = less dense = computer leans fuel

Lean burns are hotter burns. Increasing the temperature of combustion increases the overall temperature difference and improves the thermodynamic efficiency of the engine. However a leaner mix burns faster and hotter. If your engine is not set up to deal with that as well as the additional heat loading it doesn't take long to get a pile of scrap metal.

The IAT mod sometimes works because peak combustion pressure happens at around 12.4:1 ish. Tricking the engine to make it think it's colder out than it really is gets more fuel in the engine and closer to this ratio. On some vehicles it has brought out around 2hp or so.

Really though, it's a useless mod and both of them can have negative side effects. Don't even bother with it. If you want you can send me $20 and I'll send you a half dozen resistors or so

The colors are simply cable sleeving that has nothing to do with the mod. Thats not even a neon on the picture. But yeah, if anything you want leaner as it helps fuel economy :)
