Stock Bottom end ?

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Ok how high can you relatively safely rev the stock bottom end. Its a magnum if that matters.

I'm not sure exactly what the safty factor DCX uses for internal engine components, but I would venture a guess somewhere around 2 or 3. (fyi: saftey factor is the ultimate strength of the material/design stress)

The stress on the bottom end is fairly proportional to rpm, however at high rpm I would suspect that the stress curve would become nonlinear with respect to rpm.

So, ultimatly I would recommend not exceeding 7k rpm by very much on the stock bottem end, because the rods will stretch. And when the pistons and valves interfere it's generally not a good thing. :)

Probably good for at least 8k. I don't think they changed the bottom end for years and the DOHC 1st gens didn't cut out until 7250RPM. If you've got the mods to support it, then I say go for it.

Ive always heard its more the top end you need to worry about. I wouldnt go over 7800 on a stock bottem end with a built top end.

On a perfectly balanced bottom end, 7500-7800 has been proven to be fine. Stock bottom end, I wouldn't regularly push past 7500.

Ok as long as i can rev it high enough to make use of the crane 14 i'm getting and thats of course with the crane valve springs also. I think the 14 make peak power somewhere around 7400 but dont quote me on that.
