good choice.
if you really want to have some fun with the car do this... our cars are pretty agile (at least my acr is) and can get up and go in the corners, but get smoked (for the most part) in the 1/4 mile.
build up that suspension. coilovers, lightweight wheels (like 15" rota's) aggressive tires (anything is better than stock), bushings, sways, strut tower braces, pull out some dead weight (backseat? who needs it! You dont have kids, do you??
)... then focus on the engine.
do the bolt ons, like comp 400 cam, cai, udp, 60mm tb, lt header, 2.5" exhaust - that all is good for another 10-20 crank-hp
then add the silly items that dont "add" hp, but help the others mods listed - like plugs, wires, pack, catch can (for all that sloshed oil from those twisties
), motor mounts, short throw shifter, bushings...
these things will make the car more fun to drive... hell, I have done most of the above and I love to drive the highway on/off ramps and the back hills around my house... nothing like winding country roads.
If you are hungry for "more-powa!" than add n2o or a turbo. I will do a 2.0 turbo someday, but that is because I want to have a project car for me and my 10 yr old son before he turns 16. There are things out there that are made for the magnum engine to be a turbo - head shims to lower compression, adapters for turbo-folds, etc... It is possible to get to 200 wheel hp in your r/t, just not easy or inexpensive.
keep it simple and keep it fun. personally, if my son at your age ever talks about n2o in his car, the car will be taken away.
