okay so it says that a comp 400 cam should be used with an r/t neon engine...

am i gonna be screwed if i use it in my 2005 sohc neon engine, with an intake and exhaust system?

i do also have an AEM adjustable cam gear though...

i'll need some magnum springs with them eh.

i hate it when my posts go unanswered so i'll help you out. the comp 400 has extreme lift. it's the lift that destroys valve springs that aren't up to the task. you'll definitely want upgraded springs with the 400. at higher rpms you'll break your springs.

yeah mag ones should work fine but for extra peace of mind just get crane ones

you can get the crane ones pretty cheap on ebay....you dont need the titanium retainers though

I've ran the 400 for over a year with my stock magnum springs as a daily driver. Nothing's broken yet. I had to remove the knock sensor to get it to run right though. My assumption is the reduced base circle of the cam makes it a bit noisier than stock and sets off the sensor. good thing I run good gas. This cam probably won't be ideal with your head, but it depends on what you want. It peaks inside of our stock rev limiter so you won't need an aftermarket computer. It was a good gain over my stock magnum cam, but it probably won't make ultimate power.

get the crane springs and use your stock retainers and clips if your revving past the stock 6750.

well in order to help it work properly i got these mods comming in...

indy intake, 60mm mpx tb, 180thermo, AEM adjustable cam gear (& intake&exhaust installed)

so u say crane is the safe bet then...

and what! u want to port my head!?! (that sounds bad, LoL)

???? i was sticking in a shameless plug to get rid of my howell stage 6 sohc head. btw unless you want your gas mileage to go in the toilet with 0 performance gain i'd skip the 180 t-stat. neons don't like em.

which theory, the t-stat one? search, you'll see what i mean. i have yet to hear of a success story with a t-stat swap. but, by all means spend the money if you want to.

interesting, but isn't it good to run the engine at a lower temp, to get better thermodynamic efficiancy?

it was good back in the carb days and maybe the early efi days, but now the computers see the lower temp as not being warmed up and run pig rich attempting to compensate. it's like having a stuck choke. but as i said do a search. the other org has a bunch of posts

ok, seriously. read a bunch on these products before you jump off the deep end. the indy is another waste of money unless you're going full-on forced induction. do some searches here and on the org and then look into lonewolf or neonmike to have a custom box/tube style mani made to your specs for about the same money as an indy. it'll also work better for your application. at this point i think it's time for a new post. this one is so far off topic i can't even see where it started.

I'm pretty sure BRR has been running one and said his mileage hasn't been very affected. PM him?
