Cam and af/x ecu questions

Post by sxt42uner06 » Tue Nov 21, 2006 2:00 am

This will all be going into my 02 sxt very very soon.

1 Whats better for drive abiltiy, Crane 12 or 14 . With 14 can i get away with magnum springs or do i need the cranes.

2 Af/x Race or street . This is my daily driver so i dont want it to lose its drivability.

3. Has anyone ran a cat with the af/x ecu, howell says itl melt the cat down so idk

For drivability definitely the 12, but the 14 really isnt that bad and you'll regret not getting the 14 especially after getting the afx ecu. I would get the race ecu i have it and it runs great and my cars a daily driver. I'm running the stock cat with it right now and when i put my lth on i will still be running a cat.

I would do the crane springs for extra insurance.

crane springs or magnum ones. skip the ti retainers. they are overkill from what i've been told.

Springs

Post by sxt42uner06 » Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:32 pm

As long as the magnum springs will work good thats what ill get they are hella cheap from the dealer compared to cranes. But if i really needto use cranes with the # 14 then i may have to go with a comp 400 instead.

I love the 400 - works great with the mag setup, which from a previous post I saw you are going with head and intake, so you might want to consider it. If you go with the ecu, order it first because I heard it will take FOREVER to get the ecu. Do not depend on howell to get it to you quick, that is for sure.

Also, the 400 works in our rev limit, so if you wanted to save $400 then you can use it on other go fast parts instead. I just do not trust howell, so I am biased about giving him money and supporting his business.

Yea im leaning towards the comp 400 its not that expensive either. About trustung howell i dont trust it either and idk if i really wanna wait 4-6 weeks or probally more for it to come . But wat else could i do with the 400 dollars that i could see gains as great as the A/fx ecu 12-14 whp gain 7800 rev limiter its pretty impressive if you ask me. But im definatly open to other optioins
