cam sensor pwnd

Post by welchspro » Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:17 pm

so i had a cam sensor crap out on me today. It happened after a moment of hard acceleration. The motor sounded fine but when it went to change gears (ATX) the car would lurch badly, i figured it was a transmission issue and wasn't very surprised cuz i tend to drive my car pretty hard. Took it to the dealership and they said my cam sensor went out but i think its wierd since the motor seemed to idle fine and would run normal until it came time to shift. Anyone else run into anything like this? oh and for those interested, it costs about 230 bucks after everything if you go through a dealership.

Did it throw a code? Faulty cam sensor will absolutely throw a code on an 03+. I can't speak for other years, but I know that for a fact.

haha i'm a noob. unless a little message comes across the dash saying "cam sensor death" while i'm driving, i'm clueless. I was close to the dealership and figured it would be covered under warranty so i went there. I didnt even know how to pull codes until about 10 minutes ago when i checked on here. So, if there was a code, i didn't see it cuz i didn't how to check it.
But from now on, i think i'll just have to check the codes myself before i take it to a dealership. That way i dont get raped by paying them just to tell me whats wrong.
