LTH question

I have a zingy sound it seems coming from my LTH. the sound does not come out of the exhaust in the back you can hear it under the car and when your driving next to a barrier or another car. Does anyone elses LTH make this sound. I think it might just be resonance from the sound waves hitting the metal in the header. Also it only does it when your giving it gas. It does not do it at idle or just cruising only while accelerating lightly.

before my cat was broken and leaking, it used to make the same noise.. i always thought it was leaking, but i couldnt feel any leaks anywhere when under the car.. does it sound like ticking almost when your running along side of a guardrail on the highway? thats when i notice it most.. when im wot and im near a barrier of somekind that bounces the sound back..sounds like something winding up inside my exhaust lol...its nto all that loud.. but you can hear it..
is your flange gasket in good shape?

I could not feel any leaks beside a very little around the e cutout. I will try to make a video if i can. I dont know how to explain it besides a zingy sound.

The zingy resonance you're hearing is simply the exhaust gas flowing through the header. Mine does the exact same thing, as do all long tube headers...even on V8's. My dad's built 318 truck with ceramic coated headers had the same sound even....

^what he said. its either that or exhaust leak somewhere under there that you are hearing.

Ok i guess its just the resonance in the header like i originally though. No big deal then. Thanks everyone. I'm also switching out my thermal for a dynomax super turbo camaro muffler this thursday because the thermal is to raspy for me with the LTH. I might have a sound clip this weekend.

Everyone here is going to hate my for the muffler I just bought. It's like a turkey-roasting size cannon.....but I think i can pull it off. And it will sound good...finger's crossed.

I just need to take it to Rick's Custom Exhaust here in town and have him put it on all nice and clean and in the right spot. Maybe next week...?
white2000neon, get a sound clip when you change mufflers....I want to compare....

I will get a soundclip. Those cannons can sound good if set up properly. Put a long glasspack in the piping and it should sound good. The reason the hondas sound like crap with it is because that and a cat is the only think keeping it quiet. Even with my cat spiralflow and thermal it was still a little raspy. If your on the stock header a glasspack should be enough to get it to sound good.

That could very well do it. On my old car the longtube I put on had a very small leak in the merge collector. Sounds like what you describe.
