High flow Cat and OBDII emissions

Post by Ryanm07 » Mon Mar 05, 2007 7:06 pm

Ok, i'm looking for a cat for my turbo neon. I figure i should just go for a high flow one. Does anyone know if the magnaflow and catco cats are good enough to pass OBDII emissions in NJ? If not which ones are? thanks!

I've passed two e-tests now, both with a magnaflow high-flow cat and 2.5 inch exhaust... passed fine, was well under the limits.

I think most of the time all an OBD-II emissions test is, is plugging a computer into the OBD-II port. If you have no check engine codes and you pass the visual inspection, then you are good. Some states are rediculously picky, california, and probably require a sniffer.

Usually as long as you don't get a code or haven't had any codes in the last 50 key cycles or so then you're good. I think I only know of a handful of people that have had problems with hi-flow cats but I think they weren't Magnaflow and were another brand that was a little too free flowing for the cat to do it's job...
