I noticed in peoples sig on SRTforums that they have the 180 T-stat. I checked out Howells site because I remembered they carried them there before and they had a 180 and a 160. Wouldn't the 160 be better since its cooler? They are both the same price.

Would this be a good thing to have on my Neon SRT-4?

a lot of people use 180's as their "performance" thermostat.

all it does is open up sooner, so it starts coolant flow sooner. but when its all said and done, you will still be at about 200* unless you kick the fans on sooner.

should be pretty easy to instal.

Just get it from the parts store. They over charge for taht price, plus that company is piss poor.

I had a 180 in my last car, went back to a 192.

i have a 180 in mine. i like it. helped out with my over heating issues due to my swap, and also helps out in the hot florida summer heat. you can buy them at your local auto store for like 5 dollars or something. easy to install. i got the Stant part #29788 (180 degree). i picked it up at my local pep boys. i reused the gasket that was on the old thermostat. had to work with the gasket a little to fit on the stant one, but it works fine. i wouldnt go any further than a 180 unless you are in some ungodly hot area or have a ton of power making a lot of heat. if you go too cold you might run into timing issues from what i have been told. i say 180 is perfect though for most areas if you wanted to get one that is any colder...

I know it gets insanely hot here during the summer with the high humidity. I guess I could get one and install it during the summer and put the stock one in during the winter? Sound good?

I've heard of issues with not letting the car reach it's normal operating range and thereby losing power. Not sure if the power loss is really there or even how much might actually be lost, but that's what i've heard. ;P
