Check engine light just came on. It is my daughter's 2000 neon. It runs smoothly and doesn't heat up. I don't know how well it was maintained so I thought I would run some injector cleaner through it and put in a new set of spark plugs. When I pulled the plug wires and looked into one of the tubes, one was filled with oil almost to the top of the plug. I looked at the sleeve and it was about a half inch above the valve cover. Did the oil leak in when I pulled the wire and the sleeve came out, too. The end of the boot on the spark plug wire did have some oil on it. Any help/info would be appreciated. Do I just push the sleeve back in or is seal shot?
Thanks in advance.

there are plug tube seals.. they are most likely worn out... if the tubes aren't sticking up farther then they are supposed to be, like protruding past the top of the valve cover.. then you need to take a rubber mallet and tap the tubes back down...

i would replace the seals too but i dont think thats what setting off the cel. turn the ignition three times to the on position and look at the odometer, after the three times you turned the ignition to the on position, it will comes up as P0xxx. write down the numbers and post them up or look at the trouble codes.

It might have caused a misfire from all the oil in that tube, but oil in the spark plug tubes is a pretty common problem with neons.
