Its about time
Ok so i got some money together still runing my CAI and ngk iridiums
im looking to start building up this sohc motor ive got.
Ive been reading a bunch of posts talking about bigger Tb's different manifolds, diff cam/head, udp's and i am a little confused where to start. I do plan later in Life 60 years from now to turbo this motor and id like to be able to put down more then 7-8 lbs of boost...so while i am looking to increase horse and torque i want to try and get things that will stay on the car....I understand somethings work better N/a then on a turbo so for right now stick with the N/a stuff
Any help is greatly appreciated

Wow, this topic is covered in detail in tons of different places, you really need to do a search man. I will post some of my own personal info/opinions later, but I think you should really do a search... try using the terms "more AND power"

Ok, well here is a good place to start - what do you want out of your car in the end??
- Do you wants lots of power, drag car, auto-x car, reliable daily driver with some good power...?
- What is your mechanical capability? Can your wrench with the best of them? Are you mechanically declined? Inclined? Done this stuff before?
- Do you want something for a project, work on a lot, with lots of hours to invest or something to get done quick, one thing at a time?
- Do you want basic bolt ons? Or are you looking for more than that?
- turbo, N/A, or unique project?
There are a lot of options out there and it all starts with what you want to accomplish in the end. So if in reality boosting is never gonna happen, then go N/A and start with all the basic bolt ons and head swap. If you can get your hands on one, a mag head is best start, you can get it P&P'd and then slap in a cam (400 or crane 14)... maybe look at megasquirt, or just start with some simple stuff like TB, UDP, STS, STB (f/r), bushings, etc etc etc...

im not mechanically declined but i am not by far a mechanic i have never really done motor work bef0re so im new at it but i have good friends and patience.
i know to achieve power this is going to be no way quick but i cant just pull the motor out and work on it for hours since its my only car. basic bolt ons would be nice to start but in the ultimate end i would like to run a sohc 2.o motor with a turbo running more then the stock 7-8 psi.....so i guess start with basic bolt ons and once ive gotten as far as i can get with the basics ill have to start with the harder projects....even with the turbo car i still want to be able to drive it everywhere just wanna be able to take off when in eed too. i would go n/a but i do wanna achieve more then 200 hp and ive seen all the work brad has done to get up to 200hp and by that point id rather just turbo it since i dont have 15k to drop into the car...im limited with money so i kinda have to do one part at a time

I'm saying for as much as your budget will allow, without sacrificing your life, slowly buy turbo parts.
One weekend grab a used intercooler for 50 bucks...two weeks later buy the fuel pump...3 weeks later get the turbo/manifold.
You could probably piece it altogether in a few months, and your car will kick ass compared to my N/A that i've invested almost $500 into
