Cam Selection
I am planning a 2.2 stroker trbo build using the 2.2 crank and rods from IndyHeads.com and I was wondering what cam profiles would be best. I know I am not allowed oo much duration w/ a turbo and I need higher lift but what I need help with is the LSA between the two cams, how much advanced or retarded on both intake and exhaust cams and advanced or retarded on centerline? Who makes the Best HLAs for our cars and what valvetrain stuff would be best. I need light and strong to get it to rev but i need it to be reliable. Does anyone make billett HLAs?
Thanks for the help in advance.

A good thing to do is to call one of the cam manufacturers like Comp Cams or Crane Cams and ask for their recomendation. Be sure to have all information available and they will get you the right cam.
My dad has done this for all of his racing cams and they have come out perfect.

These are race engines, but they do idle really well. Definitly no loping problems. All the motors that I remember idled great.
The current 12.5:1 355 idles like a dream when the right fuel is in it. (We ran 87 in it once because we had to, backed the timing way down. Lets just say getting it to turn off was a pain)

Were the Spirit R/T's the SOHC or DOHC engine?

Spirit R/T was powered by a 2.2 DOHC 225hp engine, they were the grandfather of what we now know as the 2.4 DOHC engine.
The 2.2 engine suffered because of lack of technology, They were stuck with 8valve SOHC heads, but when they bolted the DOHC onto the 2.2 it woke up this little engine, the DOHC turbo on a 2.2 litterally was a 100hp upgrade over the 8valve head they were designed for...
Ok, thats another topic all together....

Ok, so with that information I would not compare that engine to the 2.0 found in the neon.

He was comparing the 2.2 Lotus head engine with the SRT-4 engines. The SRT-4 caliber head comes a lot closer to the flow characteristics of the Lotus head than the SRT-4 neon head does. I still think the Lotus head outflows the SRT-4 Claiber head but the extra displacement coupled with the better technology is what makes it more powerful.

I understand that. I was saying that just because your friend was able to achieve that level of power and still maintain streetability, you shouldn't assume the same thing because the 2.2 DOHC engine was significantly better.

Yea but I can get close. I am making a 2.2 out of my 2.0 and they have 16 valves. The OTHER 2.2s were turbo SOHC but they only had 8 valves. The Spirit and Daytone IROC R/Ta were limited editions.
Oh, and I'm not assuming anything. I plan on working really hard and doing as much reseach as I can and putting in a lot of effort to get that. I didn't say I was going for a 700hp daily driver but I know for a fact that some of the guys on the older TD sites are still using the 8V heads, making 400+whp and still driving theirs to and from work every day.
