I was thinking the 160, but then I thought since I am not turbo yet, that might be to cold? Should I go with the 180? Help I dont know what temp thermostat I should get!

Thermostat temperatures whats the temp?
I am currently on my way to building a turbo 2000 neon ES I am far from the turbo but I am basically doing a top end rebuild and I was browsing Howell and saw the 160 and 180 degree therostats, which thermostat would be more appropriate for my application?

I would stick with the stock 195* thermostat. The gain from going to a lower temp thermostat is minimal.

No it won't. People do it all the time. It will take longer to heat up the engine because the coolant will start flow sooner.

I wouldnt get the 160 yet, try the 180 and try it out mean while you get the turbo done.
on a side note you might want to look up the thermo stat in autozone or your local parts vender. I got my 180 temp stat for $12 usd and it included a gasket.
click the link for a autozone nearest you.

The more expensive one's usually flow more coolant at the rated temperature, basically the added cost is for the higher flow rate, not the lower temperature. But unless you're running some serious power and a bigger radiator I doubt the higher flow rate will help. May even cause hotter temps as the coolant isn't spending as much time in the radiator to shed the heat.Predator wrote:Yeah I got it for 9.99 instead of 16.95 from howell.
