Torque Struts.

What I've been calling motor mounts are really Torque Struts and I wanted to go with something a bit more solid. I found these on the Modern Preformance site:
http://www.modernperformance.com/dcx/agp_dogbones.shtml
and wonder if they'd work on my 2.0L SXT. I think I ask this question before but in the contex of "motor mounts" and not torque struts. Also, do they make inserts for the torque struts or do you have to buy the entire piece.
One last thing, the Haynes book says that you have to adjust em' to 4.70", how hard is it to do and how critical is it to get right on the 4.70" mark, what kind of fudge factor do I have + or -. Thanks.

We refer to the Torque Struts as Motor Mounts..

So yes. the AGP DogBones will work with a 2.0. The only mount that will not work on a 2.0 is the Tranny Mount

You can buy inserts for your stock mounts. Prothane makes a nice set.

I'm not seeing any inserts for the Torque struts, just the motor mounts and transaxle mount. I'm not in any real hurry I guess but I would like to get it done while we've got a few bucks left in the bank from trading my truck. I also want to put an underdrive pully on while I'm in there since I'll have that side of the fender well taken out to put in the lower torque strut anyway.

those ARE the torque inserts. they just call them motor mount inserts. there's only one motor mount on the passenger side of the engine and it's about 1/2 way in between the torque struts. and those WON'T fit in it

This is what they're calling "Motor Mount Inserts" and I don't think this will work for the torque struts, will it?
I'd like something like this:

These are the torque struts that fit on the passenger side fo the engine, top and bottom.
I just want to make sure we're talking about the same thing here.

The inserts go in the stock mounts, the aftermarket ones dont need the inserts.

So you have one tranny mount on the driver's side and then the "Torque Struts" or motor mounts(are they also called Bobble Struts?) on the passenger's side top and bottom and that's it. Nothing under the engine? If any of ya'll have pics of all of the mounts it'd sure help. I'm a picture kind of guy.

bobble struts are a 1gn thing.

that is all that im aware of, two on the pass side and one trans mount

ok, there's the torque struts on the pas. side. AND about half way in between there's a motor mount.

Sorry I'm being so dense about this. When you say "in between" do you mean top to bottom or left to right(passenger side to drivers side)" There's also a tranny mount under the battery box, right? So there's 4 mounts total or just 3?

P.S.
To answer my own question it looks like there's only 3 total. 2 on the passenger side and one on the drivers side.

by in between i mean on the passenger side about 1/2 way down. take a flash light out to your car and take a peek below the upper torque strut

Just dropped it off to get a key made up, when I get it home I'll take a look. I think the inserts for both the passenger side and the trans mount would be the way to go. I can get em' for just under $70 bucks and they'll secure the engine/transaxle to the frame so that if/when I go to the strip and do a 3000 rpm clutch drop I won't have to worry about a mount letting go or wheel hop being as bad.
I'm trying to do all of this on a budget and inserts are the least expensive way to go. Thanks for all your help.

Ok, so here's another question. I noticed some people were talking about "filling" their stock mounts to make em' into solids. What kind of epoxy or filling would a person use to do this mod? Thanks.

I have filled mounts. I used a 94A durometer liquid urethane. Just mix it up, pour it into the mount voids and let it harden.

I did a search on the site and found out a little bit.
Where could I find some of that 94A Urethane stuff, would a place like AutoZone have it?

I bought mine here... http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/pr ... p?cat=8170

Some buy from http://www.mcmaster.com/

I've never seen it for sale at a walk-in store before.

Word, and it helps to have a spare set of motor mounts (or torque struts, whic is the real name) and tranny mount to do it, main because you need about 48 hours of cure time, I let mine cure for a week before installing them.

btw, I have a set of upper and lower torque struts (or also called motor mounts) for sale... $45 shipped for both :D

I think it might just be easier to just get inserts. That way I can pull off the mounts, put in the inserts and re-install em' that day. My mounts are fine, I just want to stiffen things up a bit so that I won't have to worry about wheel hop or that dang "studder" when I'm running around 2K rpm at part throttle.

Andrew (kc2002acr) could you move this thread to the engine forum for this nice gentleman...

We have been battling that stupid studder for years. It really sucks when you are in traffic and you are on and off the throttle a lot, and then you need to go wide open for some reason, and it falls on its face for a second and the goes.

I ordered motor mount inserts and a set of Booger Bushing for the shifter but I'm having a hard time finding someplace that'll take a CC to order the transaxle bushings. PolyBushing won't take a CC and the other places that have the inserts for the Trans are just plain hard to get in touch with. Do I really NEED to do the tranaxle bushing, I mean, it'd be nice and all but will the Race bushing in the motor mounts firm things up enough so that I'll not need the transaxle bushing just right this miniute.

Just so you know, PayPal has become a preferred method for a number of people.

PayPal is linked to you checking/saving's account. Then when you transfer money it comes right out of that account. You can also have it linked to a credit card, but some places won't take credit cards, like JonnyMopar that I mentioned in another thread, because there is a fee associated with it.

Yep, most CC fees are generally 3%. I've just read a lot of bad things about PayPal and how people have had their accounts hacked and money taken. I'd rather just pay by CC over the phone or send em' a M.O. Thanks

just for reference most glass and tint shops have urethane and most will sell you a tube for about 10bucks
