SRT Engine Question
I'm still very much a newb and I always wondered... Where do these people buy new engines for these cars? I've seen people with like 40k body mileage and like 200 mile motors in cars. I know they're swaped into the cars, I'm not that much of a
but common sense would tell me it'd be very expensive? How would I go about looking into this more?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

When a motor is rebuilt (new internals) its got basically "0" miles. Or when a car has the motor swapped in from a donor car with less miles than the body of the receiving car. Look for wrecked srt-4, then get the motor and trans.........along with a lot of other stuff. And it can be expensive. I'm sure others that have done this will chime in.

You can think of it that way. I'd say a lot of work has to be done to the block and internals to get a true "new" engine. New pistons or valves really don't count in the 0 miles idea.

i'd call a rebuild "new" after a deck shave, cylinder cleaning bore, new crank, rods, bearings, pistons, head shave, new valves, springs, seats, rockers, and the appropriate gaskets.
of course, unless you use thicker gaskets, you're also going to bump compression up a bit doing the shaves, depending on how big of a cylinder bore you do, piston heads, and a few other things.
then there are the people who melt down their blocks and buy new ones and start from the bottom up brand new. those are the people with cash. or debt.

Something like that makes the engine younger right?

I'd say you need more; valves, vavle springs, retainers, rockers, maybe a cam (or two) etc.....

the thing about rebuilding an engine is it's not just refreshing the rings, the cyllinder walls, bearings, and gaskets. It can be an opportunity to replace stock-spec parts with beefier aftermarket ones... bigger and stronger rods, forged pistons, hardened fasteners for the head, rods, and main caps, etc. Better-than-stock head gaskets, o-ringed block decks...
An engine rebuild can refresh an old engine to help extend its life, or it can be a chance to make it superstrong, far stronger than it was from the first day it was assembled.
Just depends on what you do, how much you spend, and how far you want to go with it.
