I was looking at modernperformance and they have an aem cai magnum I was wondering if anyone knows if its good for its priced 250 and if I do by how does it or do I need anything for it in case the intake does take in water. noob ? sorry but thanx for the help.

Well, I have it and love it, it looks nice, sounds great and no problems after more than 2 years. I however got mine on sale from Modern for $190 plus $9 shipping. I know $250 is a lot, especially for about a 2 whp gain, but coupled with a 60mm TB and a ported intake you will get more eventually. So yeah, the AEM is a great start.

Just make your own or get an e-bay and paint it any color you like. The AEM is overpriced for a piece of aluminum tubing with a logo.

I have seen many of the ebay CAI rusting pretty bad and the bracket to the battery tray busts off... also foghorn noises and fitment issues.
Personally, I got the AEM because of the name, yes and sure I spent a ton of money on it, and for the hp it is supposed to give ya, not worth it - you can get a similar sound and hp result from just removing the lid off your box, doing a K&N drop in filter, and removing the resonator from the fender well.

Is it worth it, eh... yes and no. It's one of those mods thats a supporting mod so everything that you do to your intake system or engine in general will add up. no b/c like I said, it's an aluminum tube thats ben bent, wended a few tabs and has a sticker on it lol. It's a nice addition, I won't deny that and the quality is nice. Only thing bad about it is that many people have came across where the tube that runs into the fender well rubs against the plastic fender lining, running a whole through the tubing in some cases. I'm not talking about rubbing around the hole that it passes through to go into the fender well, I'm talking about the plastic lining that surrounds the wheel wells. Mine did it so I took an old bike innertube, cut it and wraped it around where it was rubbing, used some zip ties to hold it in place and put some electrcial tape over everything, problem solved. They may have fixed that issue now though since we all noticed this a few years ago

Water - you can buy the Bypass Valve that AEM makes and I think Modern sells as well. As long as you aren't driving through huge puddles though where you're damn near submerging the filter... you'll be okay. Just have to be careful what puddles you're driving through.
