Hi, I'm trying to figure out some little things that would add a few horses at a time... like... i think i remember my dad once saying that a new air filter or something like that would add 2 or 3 horsepower... I'm looking for little things like that to start me off with modding my car. I can't afford anything big... but small things that could improve performance would be much appreciated!
Thanks!!
A few horses at a time.

Pull the resonator box out of the driver's side fender. No negative points. And it's free. A K&N drop-in filter is good too.
Another good mod is to get 4 hose clamps, 2 2.5" silicon couplers, and a piece of aluminum tubing. Replace the bellows tube between the throttle body and the intake manifold with the hard pipe. Much less turbulence, and when I did this to my car, I could visibly see the difference on a vacuum gauge. Probably good for 2-3 ponies right there. You might want to go with "hump" couplers since the motor can move but the stock airbox can't.

ASP - First NGC SOHC in the 13s and the 12s. First SOHC neon over 500whp. First NGC Neon on MS.

it is the box that air must travel through to get into the stock airbox. it is located on the driver's side, front corner of the car; under the bumper. take off the fender liner and you will see it...it is a big piece of black plastic. it can be taken out with the car still on the ground and bumper installed if you want to struggle with it. you can jack the car up and take the wheel off to get it out much easier, though.2001 ACR wrote:Alright, newb question, what is a resonator box?
Where's the cheapest/best place to get a K&N filter?
you can get a K&N filter at pretty much any local auto parts store. i have never specifically looked for a K&N online, but Summit (summitracing.com) would be my first stop.
