Havin' problems

I've been suspicious for a while that my engine was in need of attention. Today I was under the hood and now I can hear hissing noise coming from around the #3 injector. Last week I got a misfire code on cylinder #4.

So, I started pulling spark plug wires to see if the idle changed or not. I started with # 4 and I really couldn't notice a change at all. As I pulled the rest of the wires on at a time I could hear a difference. When I pulled the wires I could visably see the spark at the end of the wire coming out of the boot. But on # 4 I could see alot of spark coming from the connection between the coil pack and the spark plug wire.

I know the usual drill, start with the wires, plugs, and coil. But any input would be great. Especially about the pulling the wires and the location of the spark and the lack of change on cylinder #4. Sorry for the length. Thanks, Paul.

Seeing spark at the coil is usually the sign of either the wire being bad (electricity will travel to the path of least resistance). What type of coil are you using? Just from the sound of it, it seems that you have spark from the coil. Try this...switch #1 and #4 wires and see if the problem moves. If it does, replace the wires. If not look at the #4 plug for obvious problems first, coil second.

Just my .02 Good luck

Alright, I'll try switching the wires. I actually considering it but i was just fed up with my car I just closed the hood.

Any feedback about the air sucking noise from around the #3 injector. I acutally changed my injector "o" rings about 3 weeks ago because I was paranoid about a fuel leak. But, can you actually have a vacuum leak around the injector itself?

If the seal got damaged somehow it will suck air by the injector. Spray some carb cleaner around the injector to see if the idle changes. As far as air leaking through the injector it isn't likely, but anything is possible. Bad o rings will only create a vacuum leak on the manifold side and a fuel leak on the fuel rail side, so my guess is the one in the manifold is damged, or a small piece of grit got between the o ring and the injector or injector bore. If you kept the old o rings swap the bottom one out.
