This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

just seeing if my plans sound ok ...

since my neon is my 'spare' car now .. i have time for it to be down .. so planning on buying up some parts while i am busy at work .. to have when i am off work ... here is a quick list .. (still undecided on brands of some stuff) ...

replacement head that has been ported and polished with a crane 14 cam ..

long tube header

60mm TB

indy intake

afx computer

will also be doing belt and other gaskets and such while i am swapping out the head ...

should i consider dropping some new pistons in there as well? or just wait till i need to rebuild the bottom end of the motor (only has 80k est on it now and should still look great, but will know when i pull the head off) ...

i have no plans on turbocharging it ... just wanting to squeeze a bit more out of what i have ...

debating on spending 350$ for a R/T head to have PnP or just use a normal head ...

what do you think? ... i only know the names of a few of the good polishers ... that will be the main thing i need to research for sure ...

Sounds good to me.

No need to replace the pistons unless you're boring the cylinders (do to damage or otherwise) or have damaged pistons... or want more compression.

eventually will want more compression .. but the head could be shaved a little bit to help with that ... (mine is an 01) ...

right now just looking to make it a bit hotter .. and rev quicker ... (along with other perks) ...
