new exhaust

Post by TheTransporter64 » Mon Feb 18, 2008 10:41 pm

so I'm going to be getting a new exhaust soon. I know that I want a 2.5 inch so I was wondering what kinda flex pipe I should get. Also how can I mount a flange to it since I'm going to stay with my stock r/t header... as far as mufflers and such go, what would be a good one that would fit my fascia and not b all that loud, I'd like something that has a nice sound but u don't hear much in the car especially at highway speeds.

I'm assuming you're deleting the cat. Most parts stores sell the flex pipe section with the braided steel outer. Then just cut the flange/pipe from the front of your cat and have it welded to the flex unit and go from there. Or if you're keeping the cat, just copy the OEM style set up but puchase a 2.5" ID flex unit. As far as the muffler part goes there are endless threads, just do a search. Personally I would stick with the R/T rear section, it may not be 2.5", but the exhaust gases may have cooled enough by then, so the 2.25" piping may help with the exhaust velocity. If you had F.I. it would be different. I'm sure you'll get more opinions than mine.

Edit: This is close to what you're asking.
