plastic cover

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Post by Jwood1712 » Fri Mar 07, 2008 1:25 pm

anyone know how to get this plastic cover that says 2.0L etc.. off? I figured I'd have to take out those little rubber covers to get at the screws but I dont wanna accidentally f up anything.

I know the whole things totally dirty once the sun comes out and stays out I'll be resolving that.

Couldn't be easier. Pull the cover up....thats it. The rubber plugs slip over the two studs on the fuel rail mount. The rubber plugs are part of that cover...don't try to pull them out :D
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

They will come out if you want to clean or paint, once the cover is removed from the engine. But you will screw them up if you try to pry them out before pulling the cover loose. If you paint them use flexible paint or it will crack reinstalling the injector cover, due to the rubber flexing over the "studs".

True. I meant don't try to remove them while it's mounted. I should have been more clear on that. :beatstick:

Good luck on your project, and clean that poor thing!

I didn't mean it to come off like you said they couldn't be removed, I just added that as an FYI.

Thanks, and try enduring new england winter (i know theres worse places to be) when it snows melts rains and snows some more I'm suprised my car is as clean as it is with the weather strip falling off every time I put it back on lol..Unfortunately we're amidst a nasty rain storm so the underhood cleaning's gunna wait until sometime this week.
