Ok, I have to ask this because all of the searching is making me dizzy. I have a stock '01 and want a different exhaust tone. I know I can do a SRT mid and rear sections with or without a glasspack and make cutouts for the bumper. But, I also thought I read that using an R/T rear section sounds just as nice without much hassle. So the question, which exhaust is better, the SRT or R/T? Also, would I just need the R/T rear section or more? Thanks for the help, you guys are the best.

The SRT rear is going to be loud where the R/T is going to be more of a low, quite rumble. You may need an adapter since your stock piping may be 2" instead of the 2.25" on the SRT and R/T but it's only a few bucks at your local autoparts store.

If it were me, I'd get the R/T rear... the SRT is just too loud for my taste.

so if i wanted a nice sound, loud but not like stupid rice loud, what exhaust system should i go with

Thanks a lot, I've heard everywhere the SRT is little too loud. For the R/T exhaust, I only need the rear section correct? Also, do I have to make any cutouts in the bumper?

c987long - You could go custom with something like a Magnaflow which I hear sounds good. I personally have a Thermal R&D dual tip muffler... it's okay, probably one of the better sounding mufflers but I've gotta be honest, it's starting to get a little too raspy at some RPMs for my taste. Around 3,200RPMs it starts to get raspy then goes back to sounding pretty good around 3,500rpms maybe.

car12fan2003 - Yep, you'd only really need the rear section. You don't have to make cutouts as some people have been known to just bend the hangers down a little so it clears the bumper so it's up to you how much work you want to do. It would look better with some cutouts but you've gotta make sure you do some good cuts so it doesn't look like crap

ok now wat if you took the r/t rear section then checked in a universal magnaflow, it would sound killer

No adapters should be needed, Mine is the weenie 2" exhaust and the SRT rear section bolts right up. Is it any wonder gains can be had for the FI ppl with an exhaust upgrade?
