You are correct sir.

you lost power, your butt dyno just can't tell.

you could keep the mid-pipe and just get something like this.

edit::tardbang: just saw you wanted it for the dual tips, never mind.

The SRT catback on a 2.0 is useless, its loud, annoying, and causes power to drop.....
Even running the glasspack instead of the resonators does not create the power that a magnum exhaust does stock to stock.
Don't use the SRT backhalf on a 2.0, COPS love it and it lowers your performance. Stick with a quality backhalf that various people have tested and proven to work better than the SRT setup. I personally loved my FlowMaster setup that I had on the car, it was mellow under 3k rpm and the power band was perfect.
I could care less about the noise debate. But loses power? Any proof of that one? A drop in exhaust flow resistance is always a good thing, and regardless if you like the noise or not the SRT is about a free flowing as it gets. There was definately a percievable difference between my vibrant rear section and the SRT rear section when I switched. I'm not saying I gained eleventy billion HP or anything, but you could indeed feel a difference. I noticed the loss the day I went from SRT to vibrant, and noticed the gain when I went from vibrant back to SRT, not to mention the small gain I felt alfter I went from stock to SRT.

Maybe my ass needs a re-calibration, but your logic is counter productive.

the crazy bends in the srt rear section are not ideal for power at all however i cant imagine it doesnt have gains over the stock muffler.

whoever says the srt catback on a non turbo isnt any louder then stock is insanely deaf. my rt muffler is pretty quiet, and the sxt i had was completely silent. on the other hand i drove my car a couple days with no muffler at all and it was the worst sound i have ever heard. ever. worse then any rusty truck and worse then any shitcan civic.

The bends in the SRT rear section aren't that crazy. Yes as you add more bends it gains more resistance, but there is no way all those bends are on par with the massive resistance the flow would encounter in the muffler. I don't even need to run any numbers on that one it's that obvious.

Here's my car cruising at 60km/hr in the city with the SRT and glasspack. As you can tell the camera is also insanely deaf, you can't even hear the cars passing by :tardbang:

...you have a glasspack im talking about the unmodified rear section. and i dont know if your trying to correct me because you basically restated what i said

i was personally curious if it was quieter as a cat back or just a rear section with a glass pack but whenwe start talking about power loss i wanna know because to exhaust is worth power loss

My car is standard, and I feel no power loss what so ever. Gains, yes. Mostly mid range torque.
Can't be to sure on an auto, but I can't seeing it being much different.

I finally put my header on today, and wow did it ever change the sound the of exhaust. It is not nearly as loud, but at an idle/coasting it sounds the same, but when I am coming on to it, it sounds very ricer and high pitched. Definitely looking into a resonator or glasspack or something now.
It still cracks and gurgles when slowing down but not as much, and sounds like it has a lot less balls..
Anyone who has an srt cat back with glass pack or something, does yours crack and gurgle when you are coasting to a stop? Or will I loose this with the resonator?

Still a rice crispies factory, snap, crackle, and pop.

Yes, this might be dead, but just as a though... some 2000 neons (or all, I don't know, mine at least) have 2 inch exhaust. I took my muffler off about 5 months ago. Still have the stock header and cat, just added 2 small pieces so the exhaust gets out from under the car. It sounds amazing. I'm afraid to do anything to it because I love it so much. Cruising in 5th it is barely audible, the rest of the time it sounds great. Police haven't pulled me over yet, but I doubt it will pass inspection, so I'll have to do something different. I don't see how an srt catback would cause power loss if I've still got the 2 inch cat, which is staying. The reason mine sounds so good might be because it's a SOHC with 2 inch exhaust, but there was no power loss without the muffler (says the butt dyno, mine is pretty accurate) and it sounds wicked, NO raspiness, and the rice crispies are very deep and powerful sounding. I can feel the bass from them. More like a deep burble.

I dont want to feel the performance i want to hear it .I have straight 2.5 with a srt rear section and when i shift at 6.5 k with 15 pound of boost my car sometimes spits fire.
