Yesterday morning: After 1st start, she idled for 3-5 seconds, and then died. Almost like I just turned the key off. The oil light is lit. She starts back up without hesitation and was fine for the rest of the day.

Today: After 1st start, she idled for almost 10 seconds. As I was accelerating in reverse out of the driveway she died about 4 feet from where she started. The oil light is lit. She started up with no problems the 2nd attempt. I have not made a 3rd attempt to drive the vehicle since.

I will try anything!

is the oil light always on or does it come on and off

The oil light will always come on when the key is in the on position and the engine is off.

i meant while the car is on and operating, although i've never noticed the oil light always coming on

Mine did that. I found a loose MVT or MTV fuse under the hood and it was fine for a long time. Then it died again, redid my grounds (besides the alternator) and haven't had it since. Mostly happened in cold weather, but I'd get the airbag light, too. Also, it seemed to happen at night about the time I turned on my lights, but a couple times I didn't have my lights on at all.

The oil light was only on just after she died, before I restarted her. Under normal circumstances I don't see it on.

Bulb check works!

Key on three times without cranking the starter and see if there are any codes displayed on the odometer. The last time leave the key on. There may not be any codes, but if there are, it may help us help you.

No codes. Lights however were odd. A few stayed lit that I didn't think would. The Oil and Check Engine. I'll do a little look in my owner’s manual to see what that can translate to. But I don't quite know if it's related. Regardless, thanks for getting me to notice that. Who knows what else I may not be noticing.

The lights staying on are normal operation. Also the reason the oil light comes on is to alert you that you've either run out of oil or that you've lost oil pressure, in this case pressure. As long as the light doesn't come on until the engine dies/starts to die then I wouldn't be concerned about oil.

Got her fixed!

After checking the power on every d**m wire, they're creating a complete circuit so I took a chance on a new battery and have not had a problem since.

Hope this saves someone else some $$$ in the future...
