It's easy to change the oil pan, all you got are about 11 screws to unscrew.

yeah, changing the oil pan is a cake walk...

definatly not one of the things to be afraid of on a neon, just dont strip the bolts putting it back on...

Is the oil hole stripped? If the oil pan hole is stripped, just tap the hole to the next suitable oversize and install a larger bolt, then flush out the oil pan with some cheap motor oil. Worked for me.

Yeah but then he has to find someone with a reamer the right size. It's still a viable option, however.

:withstupid:

I'd prefer a universal rubber plug to an oversize plug. Seen oversize plugs fail.

But what he is talking about is drilling and tapping the hole to 14mm and using a 14xX plug. Not forcing an oversize plug in.

Personally I would drill and tap, but I have the resources to do it.

When you put the pan back on you're going to need some RTV to apply where the bed plate meets the oil pump.

Silicone sealer.

It comes in a tube, blue, black or orange, all you wll need is the blue stuff. the orange is hi-temp and black is like super goop. you can use the black if you want.

One brand is permatex

The RTV should be "sensor safe" something to do with the outgassing when it cures or ages it messes up the sensors. Prolly o2 sensors not too sure what other ones could be harmed unless the map sensor is also affected by the crankcase gasses via the pcv system.

Ahh, O2 sensor.... http://www.permatex.com/documents/tds/i ... /80023.pdf
