Some of you ATX drivers need to go for a ride with me. Granted my car's no SRT killer but it's damn fun, fast enough not to get beat most times, and best of all: The look on peoples faces when I tell em "it's an all-motor ATX" after beating them is PRICELESS! Well that's my .02

At the track, it runs low 17's

. Yeah laugh all you want but the motor's been built for top end power. Anyone can beat me off the line I'll readily admit to that here and now. On highway runs, I've either kept pace or beaten several cars including a C5 Vette I beat, a boosted Civic hatch, I kept pace w/ a supercharged 350Z, ran neck and neck with a stock SRT till 125ish, etc. I know my car's not
the fastest out there but for what's done to it, it runs quite well. I just hate how readily other ATX owners give up on their builds or everyone jumps on the MTX swap bandwagon. Meh, maybe it's me

a C5 corvette? really? are you sure he wanted to race you? No disrespect, but that is impossible to believe. Especially since you run low 17's and a stock auto C5 runs a 13.3 from what google tells me...

No disrespect taken. The way the driver was rowing through his gears (Cross Bronx Expy @ 3am) told me that YES he was...especially since he revved the motor while in the lane next to me and gunned it. You may have glanced over my post considering I clearly stated those were highway runs.

As I said, it might be me, but if you're stuck with an ATX, then do the best you can with it. Mod it wisely and it can be a fun car. I've paid the same amount of attention to my suspension mods as I have what's done to the motor. So overall, I enjoy my car and the point of what I said was that other ATX owners looking for "what to do" to their cars usually start off with either the wrong mods, or install parts that need something else to support the mod (i.e. big exhaust, no LTH or a CAI
alone); then expect to rip off 12 sec quarter mile times.

plus it still pulls hard after the quarter mile, tons harder than an atx na neon running 17's will ever pull past 85mph (I trapped 87@16.8 in my 5-speed sxt, using that as a reference for what you trap.) plus, doesn't a stock Z run in the 14's-15's? No way are you making enough up to beat that either.
Video please?

yeah man like not being the dick that disagrees but a supercharged z? or a c5? im not really sure... i wanna see some videos...

Sorry Wenuden and krc21, I don't run around with a video camera looking for "kills"

. If you don't believe me I don't give 2 shits, I said what I said and now you guys want to jump down my throat demanding proof!? I have absolutely no reason to sit here and lie to anyone on the web, that's for posers. I posted that so that the OP could see that having an ATX Neon isn't a purgatory sentence. Why not try to give HIM some helpful insight as to how to make his ride better instead of getting your jollies by trying to bash me and my word m'kay? Last I checked, this site was called 2GN.org not neons.org

dude whoaaa chill.. no one ever jumped down your throat.. lol i just was saying i wanna see it.. i didnt expect you to be like oh ok hang on i actually had a video camera so give me 5 min and ill post it. its just a figure of speech sort of. i just am anstonished that at most with all your mods 175hp atx neon can hang or beat a at minimum 270hp supercharged 350z... i gave your neon the benefit of the doubt giving it 175hp and the 350z the worst at 270hp and i just dont see you keeping up. just my .02

I sure as hell ain't giving up on my build just cuz I have an atx...That make me even more determined to prove to people that atx's are not as slow as you believe they are...

No problem krc 21, I know what I say can be a lil' hard to believe.
Trust me being able to keep up with a C5 vette made me almost cream my pants! But it also gave me a deep satisfaction of havin a build that was able to do that you know? The guy with the SRT I raced and I chatted for about a good 1/2 hour after that romp we had; and he was impressed when I gave him my "it's an all-motor automatic" line

. Hell we even traded our cell#'s! Just to clarify I'm not tryin to be an online d*ck or say my car's all that, I've been left in the dust plenty of times too

. I just like to let other ATX owners that we
can be quick too. It's EXPENSIVE, but it can happen.
LionheartedSXT: That's the sprirt!

i mean for speed a good automatic is always better then a stick.. always... i never disagreed with that. with neons a automatic or a stick there fun to build.

I would jump on the band wagon for wanting proof, but am not because its not worth it. I know for me, that statement makes you sound ignorant when it comes to those cars. Anyways from my point of view, people that state things like that are just people that just don't know enought of what they talk about. With that being said, you represent the neon nation. If one person hears that, they will possibly think that all neon tuners are ignorant bastards. Just my $.02

Ok, let me start by saying I love my ATX. It's great for around town, doesn't wear my left foot out, and it shifts very quickly at WOT. If I had a manual i wouldn't be able to shift faster than my ATX does.
However, who was the genius at dodge that decided that ATX owners had no sense and would go out and try to destroy their cars and therefore decided that ATX owners should shift 500 rpms before the redline?! THERE'S STILL POWER TO BE MADE!
When I drove my gf's ATX honda civic (SOHC D16--... ahhh you guys don't care) it would shift at 7000 rpms: THE REDLINE. Honda got it right... if i were doing an engine swap in a honda, i would want an ATX for the simple fact that i stated earlier: It shifts faster than I can.
EDIT: sorry that was so off topic...

FINALLY someone with some sense.

I've said that I've been able to keep up with these cars, and not get blown away. Again these are highway runs, not 1/4 mile runs.
As far as 60trim's comments about sounding ignorant, I'm assuming they're directed at me and to that I say to each their own my friend. I've been driving Neons since '97 and can handle my way around one. If you think I DON'T know anything about the cars I've lined up against in the past you're dead wrong. If that were the case I'd be the idiot on YouTube
WITH the video camera trying to race a Porsche with my Neon

. I know my car's limitations, and as a representative of said "Neon nation" I know when
not to give chase. Granted I realize this may make me sound like ALL I do is go racing on the highway, but the Vette and Civic incidents were in '06, the 350Z was about 2 months ago, same as with the SRT. Everything else I've done has been done at Raceway Park in Englishtown. What's ignorant is taking someone's statement and automatically assuming that they're ignorant bastards...

Forgive me if that seemed directed at you. I was not implying that you are an idiot or anything like that. I guess I have been hanging out with jerks lately when it comes to the car scene, so forgive my mindset. I was just stating what A LOT of people COULD think about someone that states something like that. Whether they have a neon, civic, corolla, ect. Its almost comparing apples to oranges. You do make a very good point when it comes to the driver mod though. I agree 110% with those of you who have stated that you can have a super insanely sweet car but no skill to drive it. I know many of you have heard the notion "Those who can afford those cars don't know how to drive them, and those who can't are the ones who are able to with excellent ability." Sorry to seem like I attacked you Allex. My bad buddy.
