Good plug wires

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

Good plug wires

Post by 2001 ACR » Sat Sep 20, 2008 7:55 pm

What are some good plug wires for my 01 ACR? I hear Taylor 8mm are good, but I can't find them anywhere. I'd like some good one's for around $40 if possible. I have 116k miles on my car and the plug wires have never been replaced...

Oh, should I also replace my coil pack? What's a good brand for under $25?

With the ignition system that neons have, plugs wires really don't make that big of a difference. The coil-on-plug design is already very efficient, so wires don't make much of a difference unless you have bad ones to begin with.

For affordable wires about $40, accell or granatelli are your best bet. If you want the plug wires available, Nology hot wires are the top of the line.

To be honest, unless you use nitrous or are turbo, high dollar plug wires are not worth it. The DIS system is the most power efficient ignition system in mass production today, so upgrading the coil is a waste of money. The screamin demon and msd coil packs do not increase performance on an otherwise stock engine
