Spark Plug Wires (Update!)

This is the place to ask questions about your engine components like cams, valves, pistons… just anything that is generally "engine" specific. This also includes questions about exhaust systems such as exhaust manifolds, piping size, mufflers, ect...

So I changed my plugs today. Everything seems to have gone well. I test drove the car and didn't get any codes or anything. However, I still have some concerns.

First, When I pulled the plug from cylinder 2 it was covered in oil. All of the others weren't. I'm wondering is this normal.

Second, the spark plug wires for cylinder 3 and 4 seem to go in a lot further than they should, They go in further than 1 and 2. Is there something I did wrong or do I need to replace something.

Here's some pics of the wires.

Looks like you may have got the dohc plug wires. I tried some wires off a 420a and they were too short like yours is n the picture.

The oil is probably a shifted spark plug tube or the gasket.

I didn't use the ones I picked up. I put those in and they actually stuck out. These are the ones that were already there.

That just doesn't look right for stock plug wires, they should be the same height as the other 2. Are they actually snapping onto the top of the plugs? Does the engine seem likes it's missing at all? I'd be worried the plug wires would pull off and start running 2-3 cylinders.

I'd look for a set of accel wires on ebay or find some cheap replacements. I've got some oem wires in the garage you can have that I know fit correctly.

Nope, everything feels fine. And those are the OEM wires. Or at least they say Mopar on them. I called the dealership about new ones, they want $55 for a set of new wires.

I just don't get it, everything was fine and they all where the same height before I changed the plugs. I don't know what happened.
