I was reading "High Performance Dodge Neon: Builder's Handbook" and in the section talking about all the many different intake options was the sentance, "Many also make their own [cold air intakes] using an airbox hose from a Dodge Caravan." So I am wondering has anyone heard of this or done this? and if so did if work well? Thanks.

I believe you are talking about the 3.0 intake. This only applies to 1GN neons.

This also belongs in the engine section.

I'm sure there are a few cars out there that can be used to make a custom intake for the 2g. I made one from a mustang for my old avenger, it just takes a little clever thinking.

I like to hit the junkyard and look at all the v8 intakes to get a good idea of what I can make. It's just so much more satisfying when you custom make something yourself, as opposed to telling people you have an aem or iceman intake.

i always thought things had to be mapped out for maximum air flow and such... otherwise wouldnt u be hurting ur perf. by trying to help it?

Not really on our little n/a engines. Even the high dollar intakes only make a couple of hp on our cars. It's a different story for turbo and higher flowing engines, but our cars just don't have that much flow.
