Need Help ASAP: R/T parts on an SXT?

Post by Mopar65 » Sat Oct 18, 2008 12:19 pm

Does anyone know if a AEM cold air intake off of an 2gn R/T will work on my 2gn SXT? I think it is all the same size and everything, but can anyone confirm this? Thanks for the help

it should work for you since the throttle body and mounting locations are the same.

The sxt intake manifold is different from the r/t. Since AEM includes a pipe to replace the stock bellows tube you might have some issues there.

The bellows for the R/T is curved, the bellows for the SXT is not. That is the only problem. You can run it without a hard bellows and just use the stock one. Might want to come up with a support for the TB though.

I think the bellows tube is slightly different, but all else is pretty close to the same location, so I think it would work.

But maybe not. In the bill of materials the pipes are diferent #'s. Just how different IDK. Hopefully someone else can give you a better idea if it would be worthwhile.

Edit: too slow due to research. :cussing:

You should be ok. The aem mounts to the battery tray. My 60mm throttle body is just hanging in place. We have cobblestone streets downtown and I frequently drive down it and nothing has come loose.

Ok thanks for all the help. I mean considering the thing new is between 200 to 300 dollars. I think 60 shipped is totally worth it

totally agree. I wish I had only paid $60 for mine. That was my first mod and I paid $180 for my K&N which is a glorified aluminum tube with a reusable filter on the end...

Well so far it has been a sucess. I started it late last night and got it finished this morning. I did hit some bumps though. The guy had all the parts except for the longer rubber hose and the rubber grommet that holds in the IAT. Lucky I went to home depot and got some 3/8 vinyl tubing to solve the first problem. Then I took the rubber elbow off the other part and cut it in half. I put part of the cut rubber elbow on the IAT sensor, then i put in the sensor. Then I put the other half on the inside of the pipe to hold it and seal it. So long story short, it was a pain in the ass, but it sounds great and hasn't thrown codes.
