Post by AlexBSXT03 » Wed Dec 03, 2008 12:01 am

hey guys ive been searching for a while but nothing i have found helped me to much. im creepin up on 100k miles on my 2.0 and im not interested on keeping it. ive been lookin into many dif swap ideas but my q is this, wat is the best engine i can build up and get my car flyin? preferably one that would match up to my 03 sxt auto tranny without much alteration, basicaly because i dont have the cash for a new one, and from wat i understand would rule out the srt motor. any and all help would be appreciated

yikes... if you're looking for speed from a '03 MTX sxt you will be disappointed.... I'm not being rude. Look. I drive the same thing.

I'm guessing the stratus and pt cruiser engines will bolt up to it, but you'll need different motor mounts for one.

ok so what if i do switch the tranny. im not trying to pull any fast and furious bull in my neon, but do u think i would be satisfied with just the magnum swap and maybe bore the pistons and such. as well as a five speed. my goal is to reach around 200 horse by the summer makin 90 a week, and then add on from there

A N/A 2.4 with some mods would prolly still be decent with your ATX with out killing it. Not like you're pushing a minivan around. Your starting piont is 18 more horse than the stock 2.0, tho the 2.4 weighs a little more. But HP will be easier to make, and there is more torque to help spin that ATX. Or offset the weight difference by going MTX, if you really want to go all out. But you will have issues with the VSS going to MTX.
Do you mean spending $90/week? Or earning that?

Well earning $90/week getting 200 hp out of a N/A 2.0 will be quite an accomplishment.

Just for reference if you haven't read it already. If you are looking for 200 horses on that budget, you should start with a 2.4 and even then it won't be an easy task. Read up in the swap section, and the other .org.
Research while you're saving. The more you learn, then maybe the less you'll spend, or you will want to spend more. :-k
