2. where can i find the box type intake manifold?
3. whats the diff. between my plastic one an a metal one?
4. does a box type intake manifold of a 99 and under fit my 01?

1- the 2gn r/t is still a sohc so teh manifol will fit but u need to buy some parts to make the butterflys work
2- theres a few people spread out on the forums that make custom manifolds or you could make one yourself
3-one is plastic and one is metal
4- with some modification im 90% sure a 1gn manifold will fit

1gn R/T's are DOHC. Prolly why they called the 2gn R/T and ACR's "Magnum" engines to help reduce confusion.
#4 depends on if the '99 was SOHC, or DOHC.
DOHC needs redrilled/?, the water inlet cut off to work.
IIRC, the 1gn's had plastic and aluminum versions of the SOHC IM
I don't think there were any plastic DOHC IM's for the neon.
All SOHC 2gn IM's except the Magnum are plastic.
There are no specific advantages of one plastic version over the other, maybe the 2gn might flow a little better, due to the straighter inlet.
The 1gn IM is better (Easier) for fabbing ghetto blaster IM's.
I'm sure there is more, but that's all I can think of right now.

Yup. I want to say '96 was the only year the SOHC came with an aliminum manifold due to a supplier shortage.

Plastic.
Aluminum is the only metal they used. And '96 seems to be the only year for that in SOHC configuration. GBI's are generally plastic, so there isn't much to port, and the runners are already as smooth as you will get them.
The aluminum IM's are generally used for set ups like AMM, Lonewolf, etc. make. You need welding skills/access to a TIG prefferably, to fab one on your own, and yes those can be ported.

well how rare are the aluminum ones? cuz i have access to a tig welder and also an aluminum mig welder. but i think that the tig would do a better job and look a lot cleaner. but with the porting would that do anything powerwise for the neon? or with the aluminum would u say just smooth it out?
