I'd probably stick with stock wires and coil if they're not giving you any problems.

Generally the OEM coil is as good/better than most of the aftermarket ones. The wires can be upgraded, as long as they are a good name brand, and don't cost more than OEM. I got Taylor spiro pros for less than stock would have cost from the dealer. But it would depend on your location.

MSD, or Magnecore spark plug wires FTW.
Good stuff.

I agree with Occasional.... All the reviews / tests that I have read on aftermarket coils, show that there is no advantage.
I once read on 'The.Org' that supposedly, the MSD actually makes a little less power than a factory coil !

if stock works fine for u then stick with it........MSD is a solid brand. I run MSD ignition with granatelli wires. so far the wires have been good...........

Stock is sufficient until it's time for a tune up. The OE coil seems to be pretty solid, but it doesn't hurt to upgrade the wires. I run MSD wires and a stock coil with good results.

using brand name will not hurt but actually will gain almost nothing... just stick with stock or get some reliable oem.

i just read a topic talking about less resistance wiresets means nothing to performance... that makes sense...

Direct ignition systems like ours are very efficient from the factory, so plugs and wires are the only items worth upgrading. I've seen 350hp+ eclipses running the same stock coil with no problems.

Modernperformance's test of Magnecore wires resulted in the highest amount of resistance. Do they last a long time? Is there another reason you like them?

^haha Bosch is hardly a cheap brand. Not only are their parts top of the line, but they're responsible for engineering several modern ignition system designs. Just wanted to throw that out there :)

They do last a long time.
I have read that other users have had these wires for 4 years, maybe longer.

The heavier insulation helps, too.... 8-8.5mm is better than the skinny 7mm that the factory wires have.

Neons eat spark plug wires twice as fast, because the "wasted spark" system fires the plugs x2 times for each revolution.

:withstupid:

GF's car has had the Bosch Opti-Layer wires for 7 years now, and still going strong.

I have the Taylor Spiro pro wires. Been on the neon since 2004. I don't think the conductor necessarily wears out, unless they are really cheap/crap wires.

The carbon inpregnated ones, I suppose I can see wearing out. I have never had much faith/luck in/with those.

Most times it is the insulation that gets hard, brittle and cracks. Or moisture will corrode the connections.
