Hi all
Can someone please explain
If I have been using a 98 octane premium fuel (BP) since I bought my 02 neon
Is that going to be bad for my engine?
Should I have been using 91 octane regular unleadded?

Unless you have the eighth digit in the VIN as "F" you don't really need premium, It won't really hurt anything, but you may get better mileage from the standard fuel, as it burns faster. Thus more efficiently, in an engine with the timing curve designed for regular unleaded.

You'd be fine putting 91 octane in there. I put 87 in mine.

US = RON + MON/2
Australia = either RON or MON, can remember which. pretty sure RON.

For 2.0Ls, don't bother with premium. I don't remember, but I think I even read somewhere that regular was better.

Unless you have the R/T or ACR PCM, it isn't really needed. With the R/T pcm, it isn't truely needed, it just helps achieve the full potential of the timing curve.
With the knock sensor unplugged, (not intentional) I had no audible spark knock with 93, but with 87 it sounded like a diesel. (R/T PCM) with it plugged back in it runs fine on either, but the timing/power output is adjusted accordingly.
